Do you have a question about the Kity PC 800 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document describes the KITY Vibratory Plates, models PC 800, PC 1100, and PC 1300, which are designed for compacting various surfaces. The manual provides comprehensive instructions for safe operation and maintenance.

Function Description

The vibratory plate is a compaction machine primarily used for smaller and medium-sized areas, foundations, terraces, driveways, garden, landscaping, and similar construction work. It operates by generating vibrations to compact the underlying material, ensuring a stable and even surface. The machine is designed for single-person operation, with the operator responsible for the safety of third parties within the working area.

Important Technical Specifications

The KITY Vibratory Plates are equipped with a 1-cylinder/4-stroke gasoline engine. Key specifications vary by model:

    • PC 800: 48.0 kg
    • PC 1100: 57.0 kg
    • PC 1300: 83.0 kg

The noise parameters (according to EN ISO 3744) are provided as emission values, not necessarily safe operating values. These include sound pressure levels Lp(A) ranging from 80.6 dB(A) to 82 dB(A) and sound power levels Lw(A) from 101 dB(A) to 102 dB(A), with an uncertainty K of approximately 2.28-2.63 dB(A). Vibration levels ah range from 10.8 m/s² to 17.5 m/s², with an uncertainty K of 1.5 m/s². These values help users assess potential risks.

Usage Features

The vibratory plates are designed for ease of assembly and operation. Upon unpacking, users must check for transport damage and ensure all parts are present. The handle and wheel base need to be mounted, which involves securing them with hexagon bolts, washers, and lock nuts. The gas lever is also attached to the upper handle.

For compaction of concrete stones, concrete plates, and similar materials, a rubber mat can be attached to the working plate. However, for gravel, stone chips, and similar materials, the rubber mat must be removed.

Starting the motor involves several steps: setting the choke (ON for cold motor, OPEN for warm), opening the gasoline tap, moving the gas lever to the starting position, setting the start switch to ON, and forcefully pulling the starter cable. Once the motor is running, the choke is slowly opened, and the gas lever is moved to the working position to begin compaction. To stop the motor, the gas lever is set to "slow" and the machine switch to "OFF."

An important safety feature is the integrated oil monitor, which protects the engine from damage by automatically shutting it off if the oil level is too low.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the machine's reliability and longevity. All maintenance and repair work must be performed with the motor shut down.

  • Daily before starting work:
    • Check fuel and motor oil levels.
    • Inspect fuel lines and air filter.
    • Retighten all bolts.
  • After 20 operating hours:
    • Check the vee-belt.
    • Perform the first motor oil change.
  • After 50 operating hours:
    • Clean the air filter (replace if necessary).
    • Check the exhaust assembly.
  • After 100 operating hours:
    • Check and clean the spark plug.
    • Perform subsequent motor oil changes.
  • After 200 operating hours:
    • Change the oil in the eccentric vibration unit housing.

Motor Oil Change (after 20 hours initially, then every 100 hours):

  1. Remove the flexible hose and drain oil into a suitable bin.
  2. Open the filling cap (dipstick) and allow oil to drain.
  3. Reconnect the flexible hose.
  4. Fill with recommended SAE 10W-30 oil, check with the dipstick, and close.
  5. Pull the starter slowly 5 times (without ignition) to distribute the oil.

Eccentric Oil Change (after 200 hours):

  1. Perform only when the eccentric unit is cool.
  2. Remove the V-belt cover and V-belt.
  3. Loosen the screws on the eccentric vibration unit housing.
  4. Lift the entire upper part of the plate vibrator with the engine off the eccentric vibration unit housing.
  5. Remove the oil drain screw, tip the eccentric vibration unit housing, and drain the oil into a collection pan. Check for metal shavings.
  6. Return the eccentric vibration unit housing to an upright position.
  7. Refill with recommended SAE 10W-30 or 10W-40 eccentric oil (PC 800: 0.06l, PC 1100: 0.08l, PC 1300: 0.1l).

Vee-belt Tensioning (after 5 operating hours):

  1. Loosen the motor fixing bolts (A) on both sides.
  2. Release the two counternuts (B) and tension the vee-belt with the two bolts (C).
  3. After tensioning, firmly retighten bolts (A) and counternuts (B).

Safety Instructions:

The manual emphasizes the importance of reading all safety instructions before operation. Users must wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, safety goggles, work gloves, and safety shoes with steel caps and non-slip soles. It is forbidden to remove or modify safety devices. Work must not be performed in closed or poorly ventilated rooms due to exhaust gases. Smoking and open flames are prohibited during refueling and operation. Regular breaks are recommended to prevent blood circulation disorders due to prolonged vibration.
