GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS
Klein Tools ET140 is designed to non-invasively detect moisture
based on a material's capacitance. The mode selection is setup to
maximize moisture readings for up to 3/4" of the depth of the surface
of drywall, cement board, hardwood, and softwood. The meter infers
the moisture level of the chosen material by analyzing its capacitance.
This is done by measuring the impact of the material on an electric
field generated by the meter whenever it is activated using the back
plate. The readings shown on the display represent the moisture level
of the material as an average, relative value. Moisture located near the
surface exerts a more significant influence on the readings compared
to moisture present at the maximum depth of penetration.
