TP-7045 3/18c 27Section 5 Fuel System
The fuel inlet and return lines must not exceed the
restriction limits specified in Figure 5-4. For fuel delivery
systems that are pressurized due to factors such as (but
not limited to) the use of remotely installed fuel boost pump
or fuel level heights above the fuel injection pump, the
maximum pressure for the system is 5.9 in. Hg (20 kPa).

* Fuel inlet is measured at the inlet to the fuel pump.
[ Fuel return is measured at the return connection point of the engine.

5.2.1 Fu el Line Selection and
Application f or 32/40EKOZD and
28/35EFKOZD Models
The following items describe fuel line selection and
application. Never use the fuel piping or fuel line clamps
to ground any electrical equipment.
Use materials which do not contain the below listed
metals.
D Barium (Ba)
D Calcium (Ca)
D Copper (Cu)
D Lead (Pb)
D Magnesium (Mg)
D Phosphorous (P)
D Potassium (K)
D Sodium (Na)
D Zinc (Zn)
These metals react adversely with diesel fuel to form
deposits on the fuel system causing a gradual decrease
in fuel system efficiency and eventually can cause fuel
system failure. Use of such materials may affect fuel
system warranty.
Note: The KDI TCR engines require that the above
metals are not present in the fuel system
components.
5.3 Fuel Filters
Conform to USCG Regulations regarding inline fuel
filters or strainers.
5.4 Fuel/Water Separator
Install a fuel/water separator between the fuel tank and
the electric fuel pump.
14--24EKOZD/12--20.5EFKOZD Models, if equipped:
The fuel/water separator must contain a primary filter of
30--50 micron filtration capability, sized for at least
15 gph to allow for the return fuel flow.
32--40EKOZD/28--35EFKOZD Models: Primary fuel
filter (part number GM41013 or equivalent) is required to
be installed in the fuel system pr ior to and below the
generator set. See Figure 5-5 for the filtration and water
separation efficiency requirements.
