Overview

This document provides service parts and installation instructions for the KOHLER Rubicon 20147T-4 Pull-down Kitchen Faucet.

Function Description:

The KOHLER Rubicon 20147T-4 is a pull-down kitchen faucet designed for ease of use and durability. It features a single lever handle for controlling water flow and temperature, and a pull-down sprayhead for versatile cleaning tasks. The faucet is designed for installation on a kitchen sink, with the handle typically positioned on the right side. The pull-down sprayhead allows for extended reach and flexible water delivery, making it suitable for various kitchen activities such as rinsing dishes, filling pots, and cleaning the sink basin. The design incorporates a weight system on the spray hose to ensure smooth retraction and proper positioning of the sprayhead when not in use.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: 20147T-4 Rubicon Pull-down Kitchen Faucet
  • Maximum Working Pressure for Sprayhead: 0.5 MPa (5 bar). If the pressure exceeds this, a pressure reducer is required to prevent damage and ensure safe operation.
  • Maximum Water and Environment Temperature: 60°C. It is crucial to keep the sprayhead away from heat sources to prevent damage and potential injury.
  • Mounting Hole Diameter: The rough-in dimensions indicate a required mounting hole diameter between 33mm and 38mm.
  • Water Connection: The faucet uses G1/2" connections for water supply lines.
  • "LEAD FREE" Compliance: The faucet is marked "LEAD FREE" on the back, signifying its compliance with United States AB1953 standards, ensuring safe drinking water.
  • Sprayhead Reach: The pull-down sprayhead provides extended reach, with a typical weight placement range of 51mm to 76mm from the connector, allowing for smooth operation and retraction.
  • Handle Operation: The handle operates with a gentle motion. Turning it clockwise delivers cold water, while turning it counter-clockwise delivers hot water.

Usage Features:

  • Easy Installation: The instructions detail a straightforward installation process, including securing the faucet to the sink, connecting supply hoses, and attaching the spray hose with its counterweight. The process begins by installing a gasket, then threading screws into a ring, sliding washers onto the shank, and finally securing the faucet to the sink. Supply hoses are clearly marked (blue for cold water) for correct connection.
  • Pull-down Sprayhead: The integrated pull-down sprayhead offers enhanced flexibility for various kitchen tasks. It can be extended and maneuvered to reach different areas of the sink.
  • Single-Lever Control: A single lever handle provides intuitive control over both water flow volume and temperature, allowing for precise adjustments with one hand.
  • Smooth Operation: The design includes a weight system on the spray hose to ensure smooth and reliable retraction of the sprayhead back into the faucet body after use. The weight's position can be adjusted for optimal performance.
  • Pre-Installation Flushing: Before installation, it is recommended to flush the water supply pipes thoroughly to remove any debris, which helps prevent clogging and ensures clean water flow.
  • New Installation Procedure: For new installations, the faucet should be installed to the sink before the sink is installed into the countertop, simplifying the overall process.
  • Water Supply Flushing: After connecting the water supplies, it is advised to flush both hot and cold water for approximately one minute to clear any air or debris from the lines before initial use.

Maintenance Features:

  • Nozzle Cleaning: To maintain optimal spray performance, the nozzles on the sprayhead can be rubbed while water is running to dislodge any mineral buildup or debris. This simple action helps prevent clogging and ensures a consistent spray pattern.
  • Screen Washer Cleaning: If water flow is reduced, the sprayhead can be disconnected, and the screen washer inside can be cleaned to remove any accumulated debris. This helps restore full water flow.
  • Finish Care: The faucet's finish should be cleaned with mild soap and warm water. After cleaning, the entire surface should be wiped completely dry with a clean, soft cloth. This method helps preserve the finish and prevents water spots or streaks.
  • Avoid Harsh Cleaners: It is crucial to avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents on Kohler faucets and fittings, as these can damage the finish. Additionally, many common household cleaners containing chemicals like ammonia, chlorine, or toilet cleaner can adversely affect the finish and are not recommended.
  • Leak Checks: After installation and periodically, all coupling nuts should be checked for tightness. The lever handle should be in the off position when turning on the main water supply to check for leaks, and any leaks should be repaired promptly.
  • Smooth Operation Check: Regular checks for smooth operation of the handle and sprayhead retraction are recommended. The weight on the spray hose can be adjusted as needed to ensure proper positioning and operation.
