TABLETS AND

TABLETS
TABLET FUNCTIONS
The
20 tablet switches in the Sigma's SYN-
THE
and INST sections are firstly
for
switching different
tone colors on and off.
Since the INST section has separate filters,
VCA, and
EC
circuitry
for each tab, and the
SYNTHE
section has separate VCA
and
EG
circuitry for
each tab, and each section
has
its own VCO,
you can turn on as many
tablet switches
as you like at the same time.
The tone colors of the
tabs
which are turned
on
will be mixed together, thereby making
possible an incredible total of 524,287
dif-
ferent tone color variations.
Also, each tone color's most important de-
fining characteristic can
be adjusted over a
wide range,
to give even more possibilities.
SYNTHE Tablets
O
RING
MOD (ring modulation)
A metallic percussion sound. The knob
adjusts the ppitch of the SYNTHE section
when the tab is turned on. Note that
you
will
not
get
any effect unless
you have
just one of the other
tabs
in the SYNTHE
section turned
on
also, along
with just
one of the tabs in the I NST section.
0\\A*
Noise
Good for gusting wind and breaking
wave effects. The
knob adjusts the attack
and release times.
32'
K Sawtooth
A low frequency sawtooth waveform. The
know
adjusts
the attack
and
release
times.
O
16'
S/H Sample and Hold
Gives
a
random
stepped
variation in tone
color. Use the
right
joy
stick to adjust the
effect, the knob
adjusts
the length
of time
between the steps.

PWM Pulse Width Modulation
Often refered
to as a
"chorus"
effect,
PWM gives a cyclic tone color fluctuation
similar to that produced
by a
phase shif-
ter. The knob adjusts the attack and re-
lease times.
8'
N Sawtooth
A conventional synthesizer sound that is
easily recognisable. Make full use of the
right
joy
stick for
a
wide range
of
tone
color variations. The knob
adjusts
the
attack and release times.
8'
n_
Pulse Wave
A rich sounding tone color containing
plenty
of upper harmonic overtones. The
right
joy
stick makes possible wide tone
color variations.
The knob adjusts the
decay time of the percussive-like volume
change after
the
initial sharp
attack.
8'

Rectangle Wave
A woodwind reed instrument tone color-
Use
the right
joy
stick
to
vary the
harmonic content. The knob adjusts the
attack and release times.
4'
f\
Sawtooth Wave
A bright, percussive tone color. The knob
adjusts
the
decay time.

Electric Bass
The knob varies the tone color from an
acoustic
bass
sound
to a
"funky"
electric
bass sound.
32'
Tuba
The
knob adjusts the tone color from
a
muted dark
tuba
sound
to a bright, clear
tuba sound. Use at the setting that gives
the kind of sound
you
want. For
an in-
teresting and
unique bass effect, try mix-
ing with the
32'
Electric
Bass.
16'Clavi
Can
be
varied from
a plump, rounded
tone color, to a sharp, tinkling clavichord
sound. Setting the keyboard sensor
for a
rising
pitch bend will increase the realism
of this effect.
16' Fuzz Guitar
The knob controls
tone. A practised
playing style can make this sound almost
exactly like
an
electric
guitar played
through a fuzz box, or through the MS-03
(Korg Signal Processor).
16'
Horn
The knob
adjusts both the brightness of
the
sound
(LPF fc) and the way the
volume changes over time
(envelope).
8' Trumpet
The knob
adjusts
the brightness
of the
tone color, so that you can get effects
ranging from
a
classic
trumpet imitation,
to a jazz trumpet. For the most natural
sounding results,
use quarter tone and
multiple trigger effects together.
8'
Clarinet
The knob adjusts brightness of tone
color. Adjust
to suit music and playing
style.
