CARE + MAINTENANCE
Do not mix old and new batteries.
Do not mix Alkaline, Lithium, standard, or rechargeable batteries.
Always purchase the correct size and grade of battery most suitable for intended use.
Clean the battery contacts and also those of the device prior to battery installation.
Ensure the batteries have with correct polarity (+ / -).
Remove batteries from equipment that will not to be used for an extended period.
Promptly remove expired batteries.

Overview

This document describes the La Crosse Technology LTV-R3 Rain Sensor, a device designed to measure rainfall and transmit that data to a La Crosse View connected display or app.

Function Description:

The La Crosse Technology LTV-R3 is a rain sensor that collects rainfall data. It is designed to be integrated with the La Crosse View app and compatible weather stations, allowing users to monitor rainfall readings remotely on their smartphones or directly on a weather station display. The sensor operates by collecting rain in a funnel and then transmitting the measured data wirelessly. It features drainage holes at the bottom to allow it to self-empty after collecting rain.

Usage Features:

  • Power Up: To activate the sensor, remove the funnel and insert two "AA" batteries into the battery compartment.
  • Mounting:
    • The rain sensor should be mounted horizontally and ensured to be level for accurate readings.
    • It should be mounted more than 3 feet above the ground.
    • Placement in an open area is crucial for accurate readings, avoiding depressions.

  • Connectivity to La Crosse View™ App:
    • Users with a La Crosse View connected display can monitor rain sensor readings on their smartphone via the La Crosse View app.
    • To connect, open the La Crosse View app, select "ADD DEVICES" from the main menu.
    • Scan the bar code or type in the Device ID (found on the side of the battery compartment) into the app.
    • Assign a name and location to the device, then save. Data should appear in the app within minutes.
  • Rain Reading on Weather Station: For instructions on reading rain sensor data directly on a weather station, users should consult their specific Weather Station manual.
