SAFETY GUIDELINES - DEFINITIONS
This manual contains information that is important for you to know and
understand. This information relates to protecting YOUR SAFETY and
PREVENTING EQUIPMENT PROBLEMS. To help you recognize this information,
we use the symbols below. Please read the manual and pay attention to
these sections.
Indicates an imminently hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will result in death or
serious injury.
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or
serious injury.
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result in minor or
moderate injury.
(Used without the safety alert symbol) indicates a potentially hazardous situation which,
if not avoided, may result in property damage.
Woodworking (and similar materials) can be dangerous if safe and proper operating
procedures are not followed. As with all machinery, there are certain hazards involved
with the operation of the machine. Using the machine with respect and caution will
considerably lessen the possibility of personal injury. However, if normal safety
precautions are overlooked or ignored, personal injury to the operator may result.
Safety equipment such as guards, push sticks, hold-downs, featherboards, goggles, dust
masks and hearing protection can reduce the potential for injury. Even the best guard
will not make up for poor judgement, carelessness or inattention. Always use common
sense and exercise caution in the workshop. If a procedure feels dangerous, do not try
it. Figure out an alternative procedure that is safer. REMEMBER: Your personal safety is
your responsibility.
