MACH OVERSPEED
WARNING/STICK
PULLER—ALL
AIRPLANES EXCEPT
MODEL 23
GENERAL
The stick puller system provides audible over-
speed warning and noseup elevator through the
autopilot pitch servo in the event airspeed reach-
es M
MO
(.82 Mach).
The stick puller utilizes the autopilot pitch axis
circuitry to control the elevator servo force
applied. The resultant noseup force on the con-
trol column during puller actuation is approxi-
mately 18 pounds. If the autopilot is engaged,
puller actuation cancels any selected flight direc-
tor pitch modes and inhibits autopilot use of the
pitch servo until the puller is released. System
control circuits require 28 VDC supplied
through the L STALL WARN circuit breaker.
Power for the stick puller system is controlled
through the L STALL WARNING switch. The
system will be inoperative if the switch is in the
OFF position.
OPERATION
The overspeed warning horn is functional when-
ever the airplane electrical system is powered
and either WRN LTS circuit breaker is closed.
The stick puller system becomes functional
when the L STALL WARNING switch is turned
on. The STALL WARNING switches should
remain on at all times in flight except as indicat-
ed in the approved AFM. With the stick puller
inoperative, speed is limited to 0.74 Mach on
airplanes with a Century III wing. On airplanes
with a MKII or standard wing, an inoperative
stick puller limits the airplane to 30,000 feet
or below.
TEST
With the BATTERY switch(es) on, test the stick
puller by placing the L STALL WARNING
switch on and actuating the MACH TEST switch
on the test switch panel.
DIFFERENCES
WHEEL MASTER SWITCH
Depressing the wheel master switch performs
the following functions:
Model 23
Interrupts normal pitch, roll, and yaw trim
while depressed
Disengages the autopilot
•Permits maximum of 10º nosewheel steer-
ing on the ground
Interrupts yaw damper (while held
depressed)
Centers nose gear when airborne if gear is
extended and switch is held
Airplanes SNs 24-100 and
Subsequent, and 25-003 and
Subsequent
Disengages the autopilot
Permits maximum of 10º nosewheel steer-
ing (Nonvariable-authority airplanes)
Disengages steer lock function
Disengages the yaw damper
Interrupts pusher and puller while
depressed
Interrupts normal and emergency pitch
trim while depressed
Centers nose gear when airborne if gear is
extended and switch is held
