WINDSHIELD ALCOHOL
SYSTEM
SNs 24-100 through -180, and
25-003 through -024
The windshield alcohol system (Figure 10A-9)
contains one gallon of methyl alcohol stored
in a tank located in the left nose compartment
between frames 2 and 3.
Operation of the windshield alcohol system is
controlled by the pilot. A variable rheostat or
a two-position switch may be used to control
the pump motor speed. The maximum flow
rate is 5 to 10 gph through the two external
defog nozzles.
WING ANTI-ICE SYSTEM
Eighth-stage engine bleed air is provided to
prevent the formation of ice on the wing lead-
ing edges and is certified for use per FAR 25
for flights below 22,000 feet. Bleed air is
passed through a tube with small holes that
allows the heated air to be discharged against
