possible to configure an offset light level.
If it is used in combination with DALI power supply/wiring unit
Cat No. 0 488 76, it can manage up to three ECG groups (64 ECGs max).
These groups are made up as follows: 2 “window” and corridor groups
which can be used to dim the lighting, for which it is possible to set a
light level offset, and a display board” group which can only be switched
ON/OFF.
This sensor is fully configured using configuration tool Cat. No. 0 882 30/
BMSO4001 with which it is possible to:
- Distribute DALI ECG addresses
- Pair DALI ECGs with their sensor and their group (window, corridor or
display board)
- Define the light level offset between the “window group and the
corridor group
- Designate Master and Slave sensors
- Define the standby level when there is no detection
- Define the standby time
- Configure all the other sensor settings (for example, daylight setpoint,
time the lighting remains on after detection, choice of detection
technology, operating mode, etc.)
DALI sensor Cat. No. 0 489 35 is powered with 16 VDC by the DALI bus.
A DALI power supply Cat No. 0 035 15 or 0 035 13 can supply this
voltage to the DALI BUS with a maximum of 200 mA, and the DALI unit
Cat No. 0 488 76 also acts as the bus power supply.

Overview

The Legrand PIR+US ceiling mount sensor (DALI), Cat. No. 0 489 35, is a sophisticated device designed for indoor workspaces such as offices, meeting rooms, and classrooms. It combines passive infrared (PIR) and ultrasonic (US) technologies to detect human presence and measure ambient daylight levels, enabling intelligent lighting control.

This sensor can be surface-mounted on a concrete ceiling using box Cat. No. 0 488 75, or flush-mounted directly in a suspended ceiling using claws or in a flush-mounting box Cat. No. 0 800 31. It can operate as a standalone unit or in conjunction with a DALI power supply/wiring unit (Cat. No. 0 488 76).

Function Description:

The sensor's primary function is to manage DALI dimmer ECGs (Electronic Control Gear) by regulating lighting based on presence detection and daylight levels. It supports up to two groups of dimmer ECGs ("window" and "corridor" types) when used alone, allowing for configurable offset light levels. When combined with the DALI power supply/wiring unit Cat. No. 0 488 76, it can manage up to three ECG groups (maximum 64 ECGs). These groups include two "window" and "corridor" groups for dimmable lighting with offset light level configuration, and a "display board" group for ON/OFF switching only.

The sensor is fully configurable using the configuration tool Cat. No. 0 882 30/BMSO4001. This tool allows for:

  • DALI ECG address distribution: Assigning unique addresses to DALI ECGs.
  • DALI ECG pairing: Linking ECGs to the sensor and specific groups (window, corridor, or display board).
  • Light level offset definition: Setting the difference in light level between the "window" and "corridor" groups.
  • Master and Slave sensor designation: Configuring sensors to manage or only detect presence.
  • Standby level and time definition: Setting the lighting level and duration when no detection occurs.
  • Other sensor settings: Including daylight setpoint, time the lighting remains on after detection, choice of detection technology (PIR, US, or both), and operating mode (Auto on/Auto off, Walkthrough, Manual on/Auto off).

The sensor is powered by the DALI bus with 16 VDC. A DALI power supply (Cat. No. 0 035 15 or 0 035 13) can supply up to 200 mA to the DALI BUS, with the DALI unit Cat. No. 0 488 76 also acting as a bus power supply.

  • TEST Button: For functional testing.
  • Detection LED: Indicates presence detection.
  • DALI Configuration Red LED: Provides feedback during configuration.
  • IR Transmission/Reception Cell: For communication with the configuration tool.
  • Operating Modes:
    • Auto on/Auto off: Lighting switches on automatically if natural light is insufficient and presence is detected. It switches off when no presence is detected after the time delay, or if natural light is sufficient.
    • Walkthrough mode: Switches off the load after 3 minutes if no presence is detected within 20 seconds of initial detection. If movement is detected within 3 minutes, the load switches off after the set time delay.
    • Manual on/Auto off mode: Lighting is switched on manually but switches off automatically after the time delay if no presence is detected. A "Restart" function allows automatic switch-on within 30 seconds of switch-off if new movement is detected.
  • Time Delay: Configurable from 5 seconds to 2 hours. A "Pulse mode" (push-button mode) is available when the time delay is set to 0, providing a 10-minute delay before switch-off.
  • Sensitivity: Adjustable (Low, medium, high, very high) for both PIR and US detection.
  • Detection System: Configurable for "Initial" (load on with first detection if light is low), "Maintain" (load remains active with continued presence), and "Restart" (automatic switch-on in manual mode within 30 seconds of switch-off).
  • Alarm: Emits an audible signal before switch-off (1 minute, 30 seconds, then 10 seconds).
  • Daylight Setpoint: Configurable from 5 to 1275 lux, determining the natural light level at which the load comes on.
  • Calibration: Allows saving the ambient light level as a daylight setpoint (0-99995 lux).
  • Light Regulation: Can be enabled/disabled.
  • Light Contribution: Automatically calculates or allows manual setting of additional lux provided by the switched-on load.
  • Offset Function: Manages increased light contribution on the "corridor group" to achieve even light levels, configurable as a percentage of desired difference.
  • Master/Slave Parameter Setting: Sensors can be configured as Master (manages presence and lighting regulation) or Slave (only detects presence).

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: Keep the lens clean. Clean the surface with a cloth.
  • Prohibited Cleaning Agents: Do not use acetone, tar-removing cleaning agents, or trichloroethylene.
  • Resistant to: Hexane, methylated spirit, soapy water, diluted ammonia, bleach diluted to 10%, and window-cleaning products.
  • Caution: Always test other special cleaning products before use.

The device complies with European directives (2002/96/EC WEEE, 2002/95/EC ROHS) and product standards (NF EN 50428). All technical information is available online at www.legrandoc.com. Troubleshooting guidance is provided for common issues such as lighting staying on, not switching off, or switching off when people are present, offering solutions related to sensitivity, regulation function, daylight setpoint, time delay, and sensor positioning.
