Why won't my Lennox Shadowdance LSVFSD-18 Gas Heater ignite even though there's a spark?
    • N
      nicholasmorrisAug 17, 2025
If, when you press the igniter button on your Lennox Gas Heater, there is a spark at the ODS/pilot, but no ignition occurs, make sure the gas supply is turned on and the manual shut-off valve is open. Ensure the control knob is in the “PILOT” position and pressed in while in that position. If there is air in the gas lines from a recent installation, continue holding down the control knob and repeat the igniting operation until the air is removed. The ODS/pilot may be clogged and require replacement or servicing. If the gas regulator setting is incorrect, the gas regulator should be replaced.

Why won't the burner light on my Lennox Shadowdance LSVFSD-18 Gas Heater after the pilot is lit?
    • K
      kyle12Aug 20, 2025
If the burner on your Lennox Gas Heater does not light after the ODS/pilot is lit, it could be due to a clogged burner orifice. Try cleaning the burner or replacing the burner orifice. It's also possible that the burner orifice diameter is too small, requiring replacement. Finally, low inlet gas pressure could be the issue; in this case, contact your local gas company.

How to fix no spark at the pilot light on my Lennox Shadowdance LSVFSD-18 Gas Heater?
    • K
      kennedytroyAug 22, 2025
If the igniter button is pressed on your Lennox Gas Heater and there is no spark at the ODS/pilot, the igniter electrode may be positioned incorrectly or broken, in which case you should replace the igniter. The igniter electrode might not be connected to the igniter cable; reconnect it. The igniter cable could be pinched or wet; free it if pinched and keep it dry. The piezo igniter nut may be loose; tighten it. The igniter cable or the piezo igniter itself could be broken, requiring replacement.

Why does my Lennox Shadowdance LSVFSD-18 Gas Heater smell like gas even when it's off?
    • B
      brendaelliottAug 26, 2025
If your Lennox Gas Heater emits a gas odor even when the control knob is in the “OFF” position, it could be due to a gas leak or a defective control valve. You should locate and correct all leaks, or replace the control valve.

What to do if my Lennox Shadowdance LSVFSD-18 keeps shutting off?
    • J
      Jennifer SchneiderAug 28, 2025
If your Lennox Gas Heater shuts off during use, and the ODS (Oxygen Depletion Sensor) is operating, it might be due to several reasons. There might not be enough fresh air available, so open a window or door for ventilation. Alternatively, there could be low line pressure, in which case you should contact your local gas company. Finally, the ODS/pilot might be partially clogged, so try cleaning it.

Why does the flame go out when I release the control knob on my Lennox Shadowdance LSVFSD-18 Gas Heater?
    • C
      Carolyn CarpenterAug 31, 2025
If the ODS/pilot lights, but the flame goes out when you release the control knob on your Lennox Gas Heater, ensure the control knob is fully pressed in and held for at least 30 seconds after the pilot lights. Also, make sure the manual shut-off valve is fully open. Check if the thermocouple connection is loose at the control valve and hand tighten it until snug, then tighten a quarter turn more. The pilot flame might not be touching the thermocouple due to low gas pressure (contact your local gas company) or a dirty/clogged ODS/pilot (replace or service the ODS/pilot assembly). If none of these steps work, the thermocouple or control valve may be damaged and need replacement.

Why does my Lennox Shadowdance LSVFSD-18 smell bad?
    • A
      alvaradoashleySep 2, 2025
If your Lennox Gas Heater is producing unwanted odors, it could be due to the heater burning vapors from paint, hair spray, glues, or other similar products. Ventilate the room and stop using these odor-causing products while the heater is running. Alternatively, there could be a gas leak, which needs to be located and corrected.

Why is there a delay when my Lennox Shadowdance LSVFSD-18 burner ignites?
    • S
      shawn23Sep 5, 2025
If your Lennox Gas Heater experiences delayed ignition of the burner, it could be due to low manifold pressure. Contact your local gas company to check this. Another possible cause is a clogged burner orifice, which you should clean or replace.

Why is my Lennox Shadowdance LSVFSD-18 burner backfiring?
    • J
      Jacob SolomonSep 8, 2025
If your Lennox Gas Heater burner is backfiring during combustion, the burner orifice may be clogged or damaged; clean or replace it. The burner itself might also be damaged, requiring replacement. A defective gas regulator can also cause backfiring, so consider replacing it.

Why does my Lennox Shadowdance LSVFSD-18 make a whistling noise?
    • J
      james55Sep 12, 2025
If your Lennox Gas Heater produces a whistling noise when the burner is lit, try turning the control knob to the “LO” position and letting it warm up for a minute, especially if the burner is cold. The noise could also be due to air in the gas line; operate the burner until the air is removed, and have the gas line checked by your local gas company. A dirty or partially clogged burner orifice can also cause this issue, so clean or replace the burner orifice.
