Installation rules
Note: For different drive types, install 2.5-inch SSDs first, then 2.5-inch HDDs and 3.5-inch HDDs. To install
a 2.5-inch drive into a 3.5-inch drive bay of your server, install the drive into a 2.5-inch to 3.5-inch drive
adapter first. See “Installing a 2.5-inch drive into a 2.5-inch to 3.5-inch drive adapter” on page 45.
Drive quantity Installation order
Up to five 2.5-inch SATA HDDs or SSDs

Installing a 2.5-inch drive into a 2.5-inch to 3.5-inch drive adapter
If you want to install a 2.5-inch hard disk drive or solid-state drive into a 3.5-inch drive bay of your server,
install the drive into a 2.5-inch to 3.5-inch drive adapter first.
To install a 2.5-inch drive into a 2.5-inch to 3.5-inch drive adapter, do the following:
1. Align the screw holes in the drive with the corresponding ones in the drive adapter. Then, install four
screws to secure the drive to the drive adapter.

2. Flex the drive bracket and align pins 1 , 2 , 3 , and 4 on the bracket with the corresponding holes in the
drive adapter. Do not touch the circuit board on the bottom of the drive.
