Why is the heart rate reading erratic on my Life Fitness 95Xi?

An erratic or absent heart rate reading on your Life Fitness Elliptical Trainer can occur for several reasons. The belt transmitter electrodes may not be wet enough, so try wetting them. Ensure the belt transmitter electrodes are laying flat against your skin. The belt transmitter might need cleaning; wash it with mild soap and water. Also, ensure the chest strap transmitter is within three feet (one meter) of the heart rate receiver. Finally, the chest strap battery may be depleted.
