The Lippert Insight™ Back-up Camera is a 12V wireless camera system designed to provide a rear view of a trailer to a mobile device. It integrates with the OneControl application, allowing users to monitor their surroundings for enhanced safety and convenience during parking and maneuvering.
Function Description:
The primary function of the Lippert Insight™ Back-up Camera is to stream live wireless video from the rear of a trailer to a compatible mobile device. This allows the user to see what is behind their trailer, aiding in backing up, parking, and general awareness of the environment. The camera operates on a 12V power supply, making it suitable for recreational vehicles (RVs) and other trailers. The system utilizes Wi-Fi to transmit video, connecting directly to the user's mobile device via a temporary network established by the camera itself.
Usage Features:
The Lippert Insight™ Back-up Camera is designed for ease of use, integrating seamlessly with the Lippert OneControl application.
- Mobile Device Integration: The camera streams video directly to a mobile device (iOS or Android) running the OneControl app. This eliminates the need for a separate monitor in the vehicle, utilizing the user's existing smartphone or tablet.
- OneControl App Setup:
- Download and Installation: Users begin by downloading and installing the Lippert OneControl app from their device's app store.
- Wi-Fi Activation: It is crucial to ensure that Wi-Fi is enabled on the mobile device for the camera to connect.
- App Launch: The app is launched by tapping the OneControl icon.
- License Agreement: Users must read and accept the End User License Agreement to proceed.
- Login/Account Creation: Users can log in with an existing community account, or create a new one using Facebook, Google, Apple ID, or by creating a new account. This step is necessary to access the camera remotely and manage RV systems.
- Camera Connection Process:
- Scan with Camera: The app prompts the user to "Scan with Camera" to connect to the device.
- Permissions: Granting location and camera permissions to the app is required for it to function correctly.
- Gateway Label Scan: The user scans a QR code or barcode located on the bottom of the camera unit or on a sticker placed by the OEM. This label contains the camera's SSID.
- Auto-Population of SSID: The app automatically populates the camera's SSID number in the ID field. No password is required at this stage.
- Temporary Wi-Fi Network: The app will ask to connect the mobile device to the camera's temporary Wi-Fi network.
- Connection Confirmation: Once connected, the app confirms "RV Connected Successfully."
- RV Details Entry: Users are prompted to enter details about their RV (Year, Make, Model, Floor Plan) to complete the setup.
- Security PIN Setup: A 4-digit security PIN can be set up for the OneControl app. This step can be skipped if desired.
- Camera Password Setup: After the initial app setup, the user is required to set a password for the back-up camera itself. This password must be between 8 and 20 characters long.
- Video Viewing and Control:
- Full View: The camera provides a full-screen view of the rear of the trailer.
- Pinch Zoom: Users can use a pinch-zoom gesture with their thumb and index finger to zoom in on specific areas of the video feed.
- Zoomed-in Navigation: While zoomed in, a small full-view window appears in the lower right corner of the screen. Users can use their index finger to move around the main zoomed-in view.
- Return to Full View: Double-tapping the small full-view window returns the display to the full camera view.
- Password Management: The gear icon within the app allows users to view or change the camera's password.
- Camera Removal: The "Remove Camera" option disconnects the camera from the OneControl app.
- Adjustable Visibility: The camera's physical position is adjustable. Users can climb a ladder to the camera's location on the back of the unit and rotate it up or down to achieve the desired viewing angle.
Maintenance Features:
The Lippert Insight™ Back-up Camera includes troubleshooting and reset features to address common issues and restore functionality.
- Troubleshooting Guide: The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting table to diagnose and resolve common problems, such as:
- Mobile device not connecting to camera: Solutions include checking if the camera is powered up, if Wi-Fi is turned on on the mobile device, if the SSID is correct, or if another mobile device is connected.
- Camera displaying a blank screen after connection: Solutions involve cycling power to the unit, checking Wi-Fi connections, or addressing mobile device disconnection from the camera's Wi-Fi due to lack of internet connection.
- Camera Reset Procedure: In cases where the password is forgotten, lost, or unknown, the camera can be reset to its factory installation state.
- Reset Button: A reset button is located on the bottom of the camera. Pressing and holding this button for 15 seconds initiates the reset.
- LED Indication: During the reset, four red LEDs around the camera will light up for approximately 1 second, indicating the reset process.
- Power Cycle: After pressing the reset button, all power must be disconnected from the trailer for 2 minutes. This includes turning off the battery disconnect, disconnecting shore power, and disconnecting the 7-way connection from the tow vehicle.
- Restore Power: After 2 minutes, power is restored to the trailer.
- Re-setup: The user then re-opens the OneControl app, selects "Camera," and is prompted to create a new password for the camera, effectively re-establishing the connection and security settings.
The Lippert Insight™ Back-up Camera is designed to be a reliable and user-friendly solution for enhancing visibility and safety for trailer owners, with clear instructions for setup, operation, and maintenance.
