This document is an instruction and installation manual for the LOGIK 7kg Vented Tumble Dryer, model LVD7W18. It provides comprehensive information on the safe operation, installation, and maintenance of the appliance.
Function Description
The LOGIK 7kg Vented Tumble Dryer is designed for domestic use to dry textile materials. It operates by tumbling laundry in a heated drum, with moist air vented out through a hose. The dryer offers various drying programmes and dryness levels to suit different fabric types and desired outcomes. A key feature is the "cool down cycle" at the end of each programme, which ensures items are left at a temperature that prevents damage. The maximum dry textile material capacity for this appliance is 7kg.
Usage Features
The dryer features a user-friendly control panel with several buttons and indicators:
- On/Off Button: To switch the machine on and off.
- Start/Pause Button: To start or pause the selected drying programme.
- Program Button: Allows selection from various drying programmes: Mix, Cotton, Synthetic, and 1 Hour. These programmes are tailored for different load types and drying needs.
- Dryness Level Button: Offers three dryness levels:
- Extra Dry: Ideal for particularly thick or multi-layered clothing.
- Standard Dry: Suitable for clothing that will not be ironed.
- Light Dry: Designed for clothing that requires ironing.
- Delay Button: Enables users to set a delayed start for the drying process, with options for 3, 6, or 9 hours.
- Anti-Crease Button: Activates a function that loosens up clothes after drying to reduce creasing. This function can extend the drying time by up to 2 hours.
- Child Lock Function: A safety feature that prevents accidental programme changes. It is activated by pressing the Anti-Crease and Delay buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds or more, locking all buttons except the On/Off button. The same action deactivates it.
- Indicators: The control panel includes indicators for Anti-Crease, Lock, End/Anti-Crease, Dryness, and Programme, providing visual feedback on the dryer's status and selected settings.
Before loading laundry, it is crucial to thoroughly spin items in a washing machine to reduce moisture content and improve energy efficiency. Users should always check clothing labels for tumble drying suitability and ensure all zips, buttons, hooks, eyelets, ties, and belts are secured. Laundry should be sorted by fabric type and colour for optimal drying results. Overloading the dryer should be avoided as it can lead to unsatisfactory drying. For small loads of 1kg or less, the 1 Hour programme is recommended. If the dryer needs to be paused or the door opened during a cycle, caution is advised as the interior drum temperature will increase due to stopped air movement.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance is essential for the dryer's efficiency and longevity:
- Lint Filter Cleaning: The lint filter must be cleaned before and after every load. It can be wiped with a cloth or washed with warm soapy water and thoroughly dried before being replaced. Operating the dryer without the lint filter in place is not recommended and will prevent the dryer from operating.
- Drum Cleaning: Any rust left inside the drum by metal articles should be removed immediately with a chlorine-free detergent. Steel wool should not be used. The dryer should be unplugged before cleaning the drum, and no laundry should be inside.
- Exterior Cleaning: The exterior of the dryer should be cleaned with a soft cloth and mild detergent. Water should not be splashed directly onto the dryer, and cream cleansers, thinners, or products containing alcohol or kerosene should be avoided.
- Door Seal and Window Cleaning: The window and door seal should be wiped after each use to remove lint and stains, as lint build-up can affect drying performance. Any coins, buttons, or other objects found in the door seal should be removed.
- Vent Hose Cleaning: The vent hose should be periodically checked for blockages and thoroughly aired or rinsed with cold water, then dried, before being reattached. The dryer should be turned off and unplugged before cleaning the vent hose.
- Professional Cleaning: The interior of the machine and exhaust duct should be cleaned periodically by qualified service personnel.
The manual strongly advises against dismantling, repairing, or modifying the dryer by unauthorised personnel to avoid the risk of electrical shock, fire, or injury. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons. All airways, including wall vents, must be kept free from blockages to ensure proper ventilation and efficiency.
