This document outlines the features, operation, and maintenance of a professional three-in-one meter designed for measuring humidity, temperature, and barometric pressure. The device, model PHB-318, is equipped with a microprocessor circuit that ensures high accuracy and provides a range of special functions and features, making it a versatile tool for various applications requiring precise environmental measurements. Its durable, long-lasting components are enclosed in a strong, compact ABS-plastic housing, ensuring reliability and longevity even with regular use.
The PHB-318 meter is a comprehensive environmental measurement device capable of simultaneously displaying two different parameters, offering flexibility in how data is presented. Users can select from four distinct display modes to suit their specific measurement needs:
The meter supports various units for each measurement type, enhancing its adaptability to different regional and professional standards. Temperature can be displayed in both Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F). Barometric pressure measurements are available in hectopascals (hPa), millimeters of mercury (mmHg), and inches of mercury (inHg). Humidity is measured in percentage relative humidity (%RH), and dew point is displayed in °C or °F.
A key feature of the PHB-318 is its fast response time for humidity measurements, allowing for quick and efficient data acquisition. The device also boasts high accuracy in atmosphere measurements, crucial for applications where precise barometric data is required.
Operating the PHB-318 is designed to be straightforward, with a user-friendly interface and intuitive button controls.
To power on the meter, simply press the "Power Button" (3-3, Fig. 1) momentarily. Pressing it again will turn the meter off. The device allows users to select one of the four measurement modes (Humidity/Temp., Humidity/Dew point, Barometer/Temp., Barometer/Humidity). To change the mode, press and hold the "Mode Button" (3-5, Fig. 1) for at least 2 seconds. Both the upper and lower display values will flash, indicating that the meter is in mode selection mode. Use the "Power Button" (3-3, Fig. 1) or "Mode Button" (3-5, Fig. 1) to cycle through the available modes. Once the desired mode is displayed, press the "Hold Button" (3-4, Fig. 1) to confirm the selection. The selected mode is memorized, so if the meter is powered off and on again, it will revert to the last chosen mode.
Similar to mode selection, the units for the displayed parameters can be customized. After turning on the meter, press and hold the "Unit Button" (3-4, Fig. 1) for at least 2 seconds. Both the upper and lower units on the display will flash. Use the "Power Button" (3-3, Fig. 1) to select the unit for the upper display and the "Mode Button" (3-5, Fig. 1) to select the unit for the lower display. Once the desired units are set, press the "Hold Button" (3-4, Fig. 1) to save the selection. Like the mode, the selected units are memorized for future use.
During measurement, users can freeze the current display reading by momentarily pressing the "Hold Button" (3-4, Fig. 1). The LCD will show a "HOLD" symbol to indicate that the data is frozen. Pressing the "Hold Button" again will release the data hold function, and the display will revert to live readings.
The PHB-318 can record and recall maximum and minimum readings. To activate the Data Record function, momentarily press the "REC Button" (3-5, Fig. 1). The display will show "REC," indicating that the recording has started.
To conserve battery life, the instrument features an "Auto Power Shut-off" function. If no buttons are pressed for 10 minutes, the meter will automatically turn off. This feature can be deactivated by selecting the memory record function during measurement, by pressing the "REC Button" (3-5, Fig. 1).
The PHB-318 operates on four DC 1.5V (UM4/AAA) batteries. When the low battery icon appears in the left corner of the LCD, it's time to replace the batteries. To do so, open the "Battery Cover" (3-7, Fig. 1) by rotating it clockwise. Replace the old batteries with four fresh ones, ensuring correct polarity. After replacement, secure the "Battery Cover" by rotating it counter-clockwise.
The device is built with durable, long-lasting components and housed in a strong ABS-plastic casing. To ensure many years of use, it is recommended to handle the instrument with care and follow the operating instructions provided in the manual. Always keep the manual within easy reach for reference.
An optional soft carrying case with a sash (Model: CA-52A, size: 210 x 80 x 50 mm) is available to protect the meter during transport and storage, further extending its lifespan.
