4.0 STANDARD OPERATING CYCLE
The task of the device is to perform the valve leak test before starting the burner.
Using one or two pressure switches, the MTC10 monitors the pressure inside the test section (volume between the seat of
valve V
1
and that of valve V
2
).
The operating cycle can be followed on the display according to that shown in table 1.
The test cycle lasts about 60s and starts when the device is electrically powered or when the reset button is pressed after a block.
In the initial phase, the board performs an internal self test:
• LED Test: All the LEDs on the device light up simultaneously. It lasts 2 s.
• Configuration check: Check the type of configuration chosen according to that described in the paragraph “type
of operation”. It lasts 2 s.
• Block check: Check the presence of a block.
• Relay check: Check the contacts of the relays that control the solenoid valves. It lasts 6 s.
Once the internal self test has been completed, the valve test sequence begins.
During the entire test sequence, LED 4 remains on with a flashing red light.
• Test V
1
Valve V
2
is opened for 3 s max. This is called Deareation. The pressure inside the test section must drop to the pressure
value in the combustion chamber.
The pressure inside the test section is monitored during the next 20 s (Stabilisation).
If the pressure remains lower than the pressure switch calibration, valve V
1
is considered to be sealed and the test continues.
If the pressure exceeds the calibration value of the pressure switch it means that there
is a leak in valve V
1
and the fault
output relay is activated (terminal ).
• Test V
2
Valve V
1
is opened for 3 s max; this is called Filling.
The pressure inside the test chamber must rise to the value of the inlet pressure.
The pressure inside the test chamber is monitored during the next 20 s (Stabilisation).
If the pressure remains higher than the pressure switch calibration, valve V
2
is considered to be sealed and the test is
completed.
If the pressure drops below the calibration value of the pressure switch it means that there is a leak in valve V
2
and the
fault output relay is activated
(terminal ).
Test OK
Once the valve leak tests are successful, the test OK output relay is activated (terminal ) and the device waits for the consent
to open the valves, and the phase is identified by the “OK” LED lighting up in green.
In the presence of the valve opening signals, the “OK” LED lights up steady green.
The valve command is given according to the selected configuration.
In case of unsuccessful deaeration or filling, the device will try to repeat these steps again. After 5 failed attempts, the device
goes into lockout, signalling the leak of the valve being tested in that phase of the cycle.
