The Ray 1600 serves as a primary bicycle light, providing illumination for the rider and making the rider visible to others. It features different brightness levels and run times, allowing users to select the appropriate light output for their needs, from extended rides at lower intensity to powerful illumination for challenging conditions. The device also includes a phone charging function, enabling users to power their mobile devices on the go, which can be particularly useful during long rides or in emergencies.
Power On/Off and Mode Selection: To turn the light on or off, users need to hold the power button for one second. The device incorporates a mode memory function, meaning that when the light is turned on, it will resume the last lighting mode used, providing convenience and consistency.
Lighting Modes: The Ray 1600 offers both normal and smart lighting modes. In standby mode, users can press the up/down buttons simultaneously to enter mode selection. The up button selects the smart mode, indicated by a constant blue light, while the down button selects the normal mode, indicated by a flashing blue light. Once the desired mode is selected, pressing the up/down buttons simultaneously again confirms the selection.
Smart Mode - Light Sensor: A key feature of the Ray 1600 is its smart mode, which utilizes a light sensor to automatically adjust the light output based on ambient light conditions. During the daytime, the light's output automatically switches to a dual beam with 30 lumens, conserving battery while maintaining visibility. When entering a tunnel or shortly after sunset, the light's output automatically reverts to its original, higher setting within seconds, ensuring continuous optimal illumination without manual intervention.
Battery Indicator: The device includes a clear battery indicator integrated into the power button. When the device is powered on, the power button light displays the current battery level. If the device is off, a short press of the power button will activate the indicator light for two seconds, allowing users to quickly check the battery status before a ride. The indicator uses different colors to represent battery levels: flash red for 0%-10%, red for 11%-20%, and green for 21%-100%.
Lock Mode: To prevent accidental activation, potential damage from high heat, or fire, the Ray 1600 features a lock mode. To engage lock mode, when the light is off, users must press and hold the power button for five seconds until the indicator light flashes red. To unlock the device, when it is in lock mode, users must press and hold the power button for five seconds until the indicator light shows a constant red. This feature is crucial for safe storage and transport.
Charging Functionality: The Ray 1600 can be recharged using a Type-C USB cable. During charging, the indicator light flashes red, and once fully charged, it turns green. The standard charging time is approximately 2.5 hours with an 18W charger. Additionally, the device can act as a power bank to charge other devices, such as smartphones, although an external charging cable needs to be purchased separately for this function.
Installation and Accessories: The Ray 1600 comes with various accessories for flexible installation. It includes a handlebar mount for standard bicycle setups, a Gopro mount for compatibility with existing action camera mounts, and an aero bar compatible strap for aerodynamic handlebar configurations. A 3mm hex key is also provided for installation. Optional accessories, such as a helmet mount and a TTA front mount, are available separately for further customization.
Warranty: The Magicshine lighting system, including the Ray 1600, is warrantied for 24 months from the date of purchase. Users can extend this warranty by an additional 6 months by registering their lighting system on the Magicshine website. Battery packs and AC adapters have a separate 6-month warranty, without the bonus extension. The warranty covers defects in material and workmanship of the lighting system itself, the battery pack, and the AC adapter. It is important to note that the warranty is only valid if the affected parts have not been tampered with and there is no intentional damage. Users are advised to keep their proof of purchase in a safe place, as it must be presented for any warranty claims. Claims can be made through the specialist retailer where the device was purchased or directly with Magicshine via email or phone.
