• The front passenger must sit as far back as possible from the dashboard
• Sitting improperly or out of position can cause occupants to be shifted too
close to a deploying airbag, strike the interior structure or be thrown from
the vehicle resulting in serious injury
• Always sit upright with the seat back in an upright position, on the seat
cushion centre with your seat belt on, legs comfortably extended and your
feet on the floor
• All vehicle occupants must be properly restrained using the seat belts
• All infants and children must be placed in the rear seat of the vehicle in a
child restraint seat and be properly restrained by seat belts
• Front airbags can injure occupants improperly positioned in the front seats
• Even with airbags, improperly belted and un-belted occupants can be
severely injured when the airbag inflates. Always follow the precautions
about seat belts, airbags and occupant safety contained in this manual
• Do not modify the front seats. Modification of the front seats could interfere
with the operation of the supplemental restraint system or side impact
airbags
• Do not place items under the front seats. Placing items under the front
seats could interfere with the operation of the supplemental restraint
system sensing components and wiring harnesses
6.2.4 Child Restraint and Airbag
Never place a rear-facing child restraint in the front passenger’s seat. If the airbag
deploys, injuries to the child may be fatal..
