Adjusting the ignition timing
The ignition point is adjusted at the control
unit (accessories).
D Unscrew the cover from the control
unit.
D Start engine.
D Point stroboscopic lamp at scale on fly-
wheel and the corresponding marker.
D Adjust the control unit’s upper potentio-
meter (screwdriver point in the upper
figure) until the 12_ marking on the fly-
wheel and the edge in the inspection
hole of the flywheel housing coincide.
The timing adjustment range is limited by
the left–hand and right-hand stops of the
potentiometer. It corresponds to 16_ of
crank angle.
D Turning the potentiometer in the clock-
wise direction “retards” the ignition (ad-
justment towards TDC).
D Turning the potentiometer in the anti-
clockwise direction “advances” the igni-
tion (adjustment away from TDC).
