RECOVERY/EVACUATION
1. Place the toggle switch in the OFF position.
2. Install manifold gauge set, charging scale, and
recovery unit or two-stage vacuum pump.
3. Open the high and low side valves on manifold gauge
set.
4. Perform recovery or evacuation:
A. Recovery: Operate the recovery unit as directed
by the manufacturer’s instructions.
B. Evacuation prior to recharging: Pull the system
down to 500 microns. Then, allow the pump to
run for an additional half hour. Turn off the pump
and perform a standing vacuum leak check.
NOTE: Check for leaks using a halide or electronic leak
detector after charging the ice machine.
CHARGING PROCEDURES
Important
The charge is critical on all Manitowoc ice machines.
Use a scale to ensure the proper charge is installed.
A quick disconnect is required for the high side
connection
1. Verify the toggle switch is in the OFF position.
2. Close the vacuum pump valve and the low side
manifold gauge valve.
3. Open the high side manifold gauge valve.
4. Open the refrigerant cylinder and add the proper
refrigerant charge (shown on nameplate) through the
discharge service valve.
5. Close the high side on the manifold gauge set. Add
any remaining vapor charge through the suction
access fitting (if necessary).
