Why Mantis engine fails to start?
    • L
      Lisa ValentineAug 18, 2025
The engine may fail to start due to several reasons: * The o/I switch is in “o” position. To resolve this, move the switch to “I”. * There is no fuel in the tank. Refill the tank. * The fuel strainer is clogged. Replace the strainer. * The fuel line is clogged. Clean the fuel line. * The spark plug is shorted or fouled. Install a new spark plug. * The spark plug is broken (cracked porcelain or electrodes broken). Replace the spark plug. * The ignition lead wire is shorted, broken, or disconnected from the spark plug. Replace the lead wire or attach it to the spark plug. * The ignition is inoperative. In this case, contact your local authorized dealer.

Why does my Mantis engine lack power?
    • T
      Tony Burnett DDSAug 21, 2025
If your Mantis Tiller engine lacks power, the air filter may be clogged and needs cleaning or replacement. The carburetor might be out of adjustment. Another possibility is a clogged exhaust, clogged exhaust ports, or a clogged spark arrestor. Poor compression could also be the cause. To resolve these issues, clean the carbon from the exhaust. Remove the exhaust, rotate the engine until the piston is at the top of the cylinder, and carefully remove all carbon from the exhaust ports with a wooden scraper or blunt tool, being cautious not to scratch the piston or cylinder walls. Blow out any loose carbon with compressed air, then reinstall the exhaust and gasket. Clean the spark arrestor Contact your local authorised dealer.

Why is my Mantis Tiller engine hard to start?
    • B
      Brendan WhiteAug 28, 2025
Several factors can make your Mantis Tiller engine hard to start: * There might be water in the gasoline or a stale fuel mixture. Drain the entire system and refill it with fresh fuel. * There might be too much oil in the fuel mixture. Drain and refill with the correct mixture. * The engine might be under or over choked. If flooded by over choking, proceed according to the instructions in the operation section. If under choked, move the choke lever to the closed position and crank two or three times. * The carburetor might be out of adjustment. See “Carburetor Adjustment”. * There might be gasket leaks (carburetor or cylinder base gasket). Replace the gaskets. * There might be a weak spark at the spark plug. Contact your local authorized dealer.

Why won't my Mantis Tiller engine start?
    • L
      Leslie LopezNov 14, 2025
If your Mantis Tiller's engine won't start, several factors could be at play. First, ensure the Start/Stop switch is not in the Stop position and that there's fuel in the tank. A clogged fuel strainer or fuel line could also be the culprit. Check the spark plug for shorts, fouling, or breakage, and verify the ignition lead wire is properly connected. Water in the petrol, stale fuel, or an incorrect fuel mixture can also prevent starting. Too much oil, improper choking, a misadjusted carburetor, or gasket leaks could also be responsible. A weak spark is another potential cause. In such cases, drain and refill the system with fresh fuel and the correct mixture. Follow the operation section's instructions if the engine is flooded from over choking. If under choked, move the choke lever to the...
