Why is my Mantis SV-5C/2 Tiller engine hard to start?
    • K
      krandallAug 15, 2025
If your Mantis Tiller engine is hard to start, it could be due to several reasons: water in the gasoline or stale fuel mixture, too much oil in the fuel mixture, the engine being under or over choked, the carburetor being out of adjustment, gasket leaks (either in the carburetor or cylinder base gasket), or a weak spark at the spark plug. To address this, drain the entire system and refill with fresh fuel, ensure you're using the correct fuel mixture, follow the instructions in the operation section if the engine is flooded, adjust the choke lever if under choked, see the 'Carburetor Adjustment' section, or replace the gaskets.
