Why won't my Mantis Tiller engine start?

  Several factors can prevent your Mantis Tiller's engine from starting. Ensure the “o/i” switch is in the “i” position. Check for fuel in the tank and refill if necessary. A clogged fuel filter or fuel line can also be the culprit, so replace the filter or clean the fuel line. Inspect the spark plug; if it's shorted, fouled, or broken, install a new one. Also, check the ignition lead wire for shorts, breaks, or disconnections and replace or reattach it. Finally, a clogged diaphragm can prevent the engine from starting, in which case you should replace the diaphragm.

  If your Mantis Tiller engine is hard to start, there are several possible reasons. Water in the petrol could be the issue; drain the entire system and refill with fresh fuel. The engine might be under- or over-choked. If it's flooded from over-choking, follow the instructions in the operation section. If under-choked, move the choke lever to the closed position and crank two or three times. Gasket leaks in the carburetor or cylinder base can also cause this problem, so replace the gaskets. For a weak spark at the spark plug, contact your Mantis Service Department.

Weak or intermittent spark at the spark plug could also be the reason.
