Why won't my Mantis Tiller start?
    • J
      John EscobarJul 31, 2025
Several factors could prevent your Mantis Tiller from starting. First, ensure the o/i switch is in the “i” position. Check that the fuel tank isn't empty and the fuel strainer and line aren't clogged. A shorted, fouled, or broken spark plug or a disconnected ignition lead wire could also be the culprit. Replace the spark plug or reattach the lead wire as needed. If the ignition is inoperative, contact your local authorised dealer.

How to fix Mantis 7265 that is hard to start?
    • B
      Brian KingAug 5, 2025
If your Mantis Tiller engine is hard to start, the issue might be water in the petrol, a stale fuel mixture, or the engine being under or over choked. In this case, drain the entire system and refill it with fresh fuel or the correct mixture. Gasket leaks in the carburettor or cylinder base could also be the problem, so replace the gaskets. If there is a weak spark at the spark plug, contact your local authorised dealer.

If you notice black smoke coming from the Mantis Tiller exhaust, it could be due to a clogged exhaust screen or a restricted exhaust port. Try cleaning the carbon from the exhaust screen and cleaning the exhaust port to resolve this issue.

Why does my Mantis Tiller engine miss?
    • A
      Anna ClaytonAug 15, 2025
If your Mantis Tiller engine is missing, it could be due to dirt in the fuel line or carburettor. Remove and clean these parts. Alternatively, the carburettor might be improperly adjusted. Try cleaning or replacing the spark plug and set the gap to 0.024-0.028 inches (0.6-0.7 mm).

What causes continuous flooding in a Mantis 7265 engine?
    • M
      Mary NelsonAug 20, 2025
Continuous flooding in a Mantis Tiller engine can be caused by the fuel tank vent line not being in an upright position. To fix this, return the fuel tank vent line to the upright position and place it under the cylinder cover in the small “pocket” in the cylinder cover.

Why aren't the tines turning on my Mantis 7265 when I press the throttle?
    • K
      Karen MyersAug 26, 2025
The tines might not turn on your Mantis Tiller when the throttle is depressed if the engine is not seated properly on the gear housing. Re-install the engine following the instructions on page 18 (How to reseat the flange).
