Chapter 7
Essentials of Driving
Before driving, make sure that the side stand is fully returned to the up position.
Do not change gear or decelerate whilst turning. Slow down to a safe speed
before turning.
Do not shift into a low gear during turning.
It is dangerous to drive a motorcycle with a single hand. During driving, take a
firm hold of the handlebars with both hands and put your feet on the foot pegs.
On a wet roads, the friction force is low and so add extra time to slow down. Try
to decelerate in advance.
Observe the traffic laws and speed limits.
Engine starting
Make sure the fuel cocks are both open and the engine shutdown switch is in
the position. Insert the ignition key in ignition switch and turn it to ON the
position. If the transmission is in neutral, the neutral indicator lamp will be lit.
Press the electric start button for ignition. Never rotate the accelerator grip
when pressing the starting button.
If it is the first time for you to drive this type of geared motorcycle we
strongly recommend that you obtain appropriate training, and practice in a
quit and traffic free environment
Make it a habit to engage neutral gear and firmly pull the clutch lever before
starting the engine.
