OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
BREAKING IN THE PUMP
NOTE: The pump is shipped without oil. Before using the
compressor, pour the break-in oil (included) into the pump
through the oil nozzle. Change the break-in oil after 8
hours of operation. In order to reduce maintenance and
repair problems, use 58-8143-6 Campbell Hausfeld Air
Compressor Oil. To extend the life of your compressor,
add air compressor oil before starting the air compressor.
NOTE: Please dispose of used hydraulic oil in a manner that is
compatible with the environment.
1. Check the oil level in the pump through the oil sight glass. The
pump oil level must be between A1 and A2. Do not operate the
compressor if the oil is over-filled or under-filled (see A).
2. Turn the pressure switch to the OFF position (See B)
3. Open the tank drain valve by turning it counter-clockwise (see C).
4. Plug in the power cord.
5. Turn the pressure switch to the ON position (See D). The
compressor will start. Allow the compressor to run for 30
minutes in order to break in the internal parts. If the compressor
does not operate properly after 30 minutes, turn it off
immediately and call the toll-free helpline, at 1-800-689-9928..
6. After the compressor has been running for 30 minutes, turn the
pressure switch to the OFF position.
7. Close the tank drain valve by turning it clockwise.
8. Turn the pressure switch to the ON position. The compressor
will start, fill the tank to the cut-out pressure, and then stop.
NOTE: Leaving the pressure switch in the ON position will allow
the motor to restart automatically as the compressed air is used.
START-UP
1. Before starting the compressor, check the oil sight glass in
order to verify the oil level in the pump.
2. Turn the pressure switch to the OFF position.
3. Close the tank drain valve.
4. Plug in the power cord.
5. Turn the pressure switch to the ON position.
6. Adjust the pressure regulator to the tool’s working pressure.
When lowering the pressure, turn the knob counter-clockwise
past the desired setting, and then turn it clockwise back to the
desired pressure. Do not exceed the operating pressure of the
tool or accessory that is being used.
SHUT-DOWN
1. Turn the pressure switch to the OFF position.
2. Unplug the power cord.
3. Reduce the pressure in the tank through the outlet hose.
Pulling the relief valve ring and keeping it open will also
reduce the pressure in the tank (See E).
CAUTION Escaping air and moisture can propel debris that
may cause eye injury. Wear safety goggles when opening the
drain valve
