What to do if my Maytag MDB-8 Dishwasher will not drain?
    • M
      michaelbuckleyAug 20, 2025
To address the issue of a Maytag Dishwasher not draining or having water at the bottom, ensure the knock-out is removed from the disposer inlet if it's connected to a food waste disposer. Also, check for any food obstructions in the drain or disposer, inspect the drain hose for kinks, verify your home’s circuit breaker or fuse box, and confirm that the cleaning cycle has been fully completed.

    • S
      shansenAug 22, 2025
If your Maytag dishwasher isn't filling, try the following: press the START/Cancel pad, ensure the door is securely latched, verify the water is turned on, check that the correct cycle is selected, inspect your home’s circuit breaker or fuse box, check the inlet hose for kinks, and inspect the water valve inlet for sediment, cleaning it if necessary.

Why does my Maytag MDB-8 smell?
    • Y
      Yvonne MillerAug 25, 2025
If your Maytag dishwasher has an odor, try running the dishes through a Rinse Only cycle. A new dishwasher smell will dissipate with use. Ensure the dishwasher is draining properly. For strong odors, place baking soda in both sides of the detergent cup, select a Light Wash cycle, let it circulate for 10 minutes, interrupt the cycle and let it stand overnight, then restart it. Alternatively, use a dishwasher cleaning product.

Why is my Maytag MDB-8 Dishwasher so noisy?
    • A
      april30Aug 26, 2025
If your Maytag dishwasher seems noisy, note that a water valve hiss during fill and water circulation sounds are normal. A thumping sound may indicate a wash arm is bumping an item, so readjust the load. Chopping or grinding sounds occur when the internal food disposer chops hard items. Humming during the drain is normal, and a snap noise is the detergent cup lid. Proper installation affects the noise level.

How to prevent cloudy glasses in Maytag MDB-8 Dishwasher?
    • P
      patrickpageAug 28, 2025
If your glasses are cloudy or spotted after washing in your Maytag dishwasher, select the Hi Temp Wash option and check that the incoming water temperature is 120° F (49° C). Always use a rinse aid. To determine if the cloudiness is due to hard water, soak the item in white vinegar for 5 minutes. If the cloudiness is removed, adjust the detergent amount to match the water hardness and ensure the detergent is fresh and of high quality. If the cloudiness persists, it may be etching, which is permanent damage caused by hot water, too much detergent, or prewashing. To prevent further etching, adjust detergent, stop prewashing, and use water heating options only when the incoming water temperature is below 120° F (49° C).

Why are dishes wet after Maytag Dishwasher cycle?
    • T
      tbartlettAug 30, 2025
If items in your Maytag dishwasher are not drying properly or moisture is present after the dry cycle, make sure Heated Dry is selected. Water droplets on the inner door are normal. Use a rinse aid regularly and turn the rinse aid selector toward the MAX setting. Check that the incoming water temperature is 120° F (49° C) and select the Sanitize option. Increase the detergent amount to match water hardness. Load properly. Plastic and non-stick items may require towel drying, as do glasses and cups with concave bottoms.

How to clean food soil remaining on dishes in Maytag Dishwasher?
    • M
      Mark RodriguezSep 1, 2025
If food soil remains on dishes after a Maytag dishwasher cycle, verify that the incoming water temperature is 120° F (49° C) and run hot water at the sink before starting the dishwasher. Check the water hardness and adjust the detergent amount. Use fresh detergent stored in a cool, dry place. Select the appropriate cycle and option for the soil level, such as ToughScrubTM, ToughScrubTMPlus, or Hi Temp Wash. Ensure the upper rack wash arm connector is correctly aligned and load items so they do not block the wash arms. Load the utensil basket correctly and scrape off burnt-on foods before loading.

How to remove stains from Maytag Dishwasher?
    • P
      parkerjesseSep 3, 2025
If items washed in your Maytag dishwasher are stained or discolored, aluminum utensils or pans may leave marks when they rub against other items, so leave space between them. Iron deposits in the water can leave a yellow, brown, or orange film, potentially requiring a rust filter. Separate silver from stainless steel to prevent damage. Color from tomato sauces may adhere to interior parts; leave the door open to oxidize the stain or use a detergent containing chlorine. Certain detergents may stain silver, so try another brand.

Why Maytag MDB-8 Dishwasher cycle takes so long?
    • A
      adrian47Sep 5, 2025
If your Maytag Dishwasher cycle is taking too long, a ToughScrubTM, ToughScrubTMPlus or Sanitized cycle may have been selected, extending the cycle to heat water. Check that the incoming water temperature is 120° F (49° C).

How to prevent chipped dishware in Maytag Dishwasher?
    • K
      kathy31Sep 7, 2025
If dishware is chipped after being washed in your Maytag dishwasher, ensure dishes are loaded according to instructions to prevent them from striking each other. Washing fine antique china/crystal in the dishwasher is not recommended. Do not load glasses over the tines, and avoid overloading the dishwasher.
