2. Assembly

Install handle

Insert handle lock, position handle assembly, secure with bolts.

Connect shift rod

Insert shift rod into lever indicator and secure with clip.

Tire pressure

Reduce tire pressure to 20 PSI for proper operation.

3. Start and Operation

Check engine oil level

Ensure engine oil is at the correct level before operation.

Fill fuel tank

Use fresh, clean regular unleaded automotive gasoline.

Starting the engine

Reconnect spark plug, set controls, pull starter rope.

Tine operation

Move throttle to desired speed; tines engage with drive control.

Reverse

Release drive control, set throttle to slow, select 'R' position.

Stopping tines and engine

Release drive control to stop tines; set shift lever to 'N' to stop engine.

Turning

Release drive control, set throttle to slow, select 'F' position.

Tilling

Release depth stake, select tilling position, engage drive control.

Cultivating

Destroy weeds between rows for plant nourishment.

4. Maintenance

Engine maintenance

Refer to manual for engine servicing and upkeep.

Transmission

Lubricate right hand gear case grease fitting once a season.

Finish

Keep tiller and wheels clean; protect painted surfaces with wax.

Storage

Store in dry area, drain fuel system if unused for 30+ days.

Lubrication chart

Schedule for lubricating pivot points and performing checks.

Maintenance schedule

Periodic checks and services for engine oil, filters, etc.

5. Repair and adjustment

Position handle

Adjust handle height for comfortable operation; it may change during use.

Ground drive belt adjustment

Take to an authorized dealer for repair.

Tine replacement

Replace worn or damaged tines for optimal tilling performance.

6. Troubleshooting

Will not start or hard to start

Check fuel, throttle, choke, spark plug, wiring, and carburetor.

Engine misses or lacks power

Check for overload, clogged tank, dirty air cleaner or spark plug.

Engine overheats

Check air screen, oil level/quality, and engine cleanliness.

Soil balls up or clumps

Wait for more favorable soil conditions if ground is too wet.
