  If your McCulloch Trimmer won't start, several factors could be the cause. First, check if the fuel tank is empty and fill it with properly mixed fuel if needed. Make sure you press the primer bulb fully and slowly 10 times. If the engine is flooded, squeeze the trigger and pull the starter rope. Also, old or improperly mixed fuel can be a culprit, so drain the gas tank and add a fresh fuel mixture. A fouled spark plug or a plugged spark arrestor might also be the issue; in these cases, replace or clean the spark plug or clean or replace the spark arrestor, respectively.

  If the cutting attachment on your McCulloch Trimmer won't advance, several issues could be the cause. First, check if the cutting attachment is bound with grass; if so, stop the engine and clean the cutting attachment. If the cutting attachment is out of line, refill it with a new line. An inner reel that is bound up will also prevent advancement, so replace the inner reel. A dirty cutting head can be another cause, so clean the inner reel and outer spool. Also, if the line is welded, disassemble, remove the welded section, and rewind. If the line is twisted when refilled, disassemble and rewind the line. Finally, if not enough line is exposed, push the bump knob and pull out the line until 4 inches (102 mm) of line is outside of the cutting attachment.
