Overview

The Medline Aeromist Colors™ Nebulizer Compressor Kit is a medical device designed for aerosol therapy, specifically for the inhalation of medical aerosols to treat respiratory disorders such as asthma, allergies, and bronchitis. This compressor nebulizer converts prescribed medication solutions into an aerosolized mist, which is then inhaled by the patient through a mouthpiece or an aerosol mask. It is intended for use under the order of a physician, and users are advised to follow their physician's instructions for operation.

Function Description:

The core function of the Aeromist Colors™ Nebulizer is to generate a fine mist from liquid medication, allowing it to be effectively delivered to the patient's respiratory system. The compressor unit provides the necessary airflow to the jet nebulizer, which then atomizes the medication. The device is suitable for all commonly used solutions prescribed by a doctor for aerosol therapy.

Important Technical Specifications:

The Aeromist Colors™ Nebulizer Compressor Kit comes in several models, including HCS70004P, HCS70004G, HCS70004C, HCS70004BL, HCS70004DP, and HCS70004.

It's important to note that specifications may vary based on altitude, barometric pressure, air temperature, and the type and viscosity of medication used. The device is classified as Type II for protection against electric shock and Type BF for the degree of protection against electric shock. It is not suitable for use in the presence of a flammable anesthetic mixture with air, oxygen, or nitrous oxide.

Usage Features:

The device is designed for easy setup and operation.

  • Placement: The compressor should be placed on a stable, sturdy, and flat surface within easy reach.
  • Power: It operates by plugging into a standard wall outlet. The power switch has "OFF" (O) and "ON" (I) positions.
  • Medication Delivery: Medication is added to the jet nebulizer cap, typically using an eye dropper or pre-measured dose container, with a maximum capacity of 10mL.
  • Components: The kit includes a mouthpiece with a reservoir, tubing, a jet nebulizer cap, baffle, jet nebulizer chamber, and foam filters. An aerosol mask can be used instead of the mouthpiece.
  • Inhalation: Treatment involves placing the mouthpiece between the teeth (or the mask over the mouth and nose) and inhaling and exhaling through it.
  • Safety Features: The compressor motor is equipped with a thermal protector that will shut off the unit if it overheats. If this occurs, the unit should be switched off, unplugged, and allowed to cool for 30 minutes before resuming treatment.
  • Warnings: Users are cautioned against untwisting the jet nebulizer during operation, pouring more than 10 mL of solution, using the device while bathing, placing it where it can fall into water, or reaching for it if it has fallen into water. Electrical shock hazards are present if the cabinet is removed or opened. The power cord should be disconnected before cleaning or servicing. The unit should not be placed near hot, sparking, or burning objects, nor should oil or grease be used on or near it. Air openings should not be blocked, and the device should not be operated in wet or damp locations.

Maintenance Features:

Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the device's performance and to reduce the risk of infection.

  • Cleaning: After each aerosol treatment, the mouthpiece, jet nebulizer cap, chamber, and baffle should be disassembled and washed in hot water with dish-washing detergent, then thoroughly rinsed and air-dried. The tubing does not require cleaning, but the surface of the unit should be wiped regularly.
  • Disinfection: Daily disinfection is recommended. This involves soaking the mouthpiece, T-piece, nebulizer cap, chamber, and baffle in a solution of 1/4 cup white vinegar and 3/4 cup hot water for 30 minutes, then removing and air-drying.
  • Filter Replacement: The air compressor filter should be replaced when it turns gray. Additional filters can be purchased from the dealer. It is critical not to operate the device without a filter or to replace it with unauthorized materials like cotton, as this can damage the nebulizer.
  • Jet Nebulizer Replacement: The jet nebulizer must be changed if it becomes clogged.
  • Boiling: The nebulizer and accessories must not be boiled.
  • Repairs: Only authorized personnel are permitted to make repairs to this product.

This warranty is limited to the original purchaser and covers repair or replacement of defective parts or assemblies, provided the unit has been properly operated. Normal maintenance items and disposable components are not covered. Shipping charges are the responsibility of the purchaser.
