2. Remove the spark plug boot. Twist the rubber boots slightly and pull off.

3. Remove the spark plug to inspect. Replace spark plug if electrode is worn or the insulator is rough, cracked,
broken, blistered or fouled.

4. Set spark plug gap to specifications.

Spark plug gap 1.0 mm (0.040 in.)
5. Before installing spark plug, clean off any dirt on the spark plug seats. Install plugs finger tight, and then
tighten 1/4 turn or torque to specifications.

Engine Idle Speed Adjustment
1. With boat tied securely to dock, start engine and allow it to warm up.
2. With outboard in forward gear, reduce engine speed to idle.
3. Adjust the idle speed screw to obtain the recommended engine idle speed. See General Information -
Specifications.
