CHAPTER 5 - OPERATING PROCEDURES
A Brief Descripon of Chapter 5
All informaon contained in Chapter 5 pertains to the operaon of the HI-803 TTS. The Operang Proce-
dures include Modes of Operaon, Support Funcons, Calibrang a Transducer Under Test and Prinng
the Results of the Test. Chapter 5 also discusses some Electronic and Mechanical Technology necessary
for successful use of this instrument. It is very important that the user be familiar with this chapter
before operang the HI-803 TTS.
Modes of Operaon
Baery Check This mode displays the voltage state status of the internal TTS baer-
ies. The memory status i.e. how many readings are currently stored in
memory, and how many total readings are available.
Setup Mode The Setup Mode allows selecon of the TUT amplitude units (English
or Metric) and the date and me. Setup permits selecon of either
auto- macally prinng all tests stored in memory (up to 100 tests) or
just one test. It also allows selecon of standard, RMS or DB units.
Addionally, the display backlight and the unit power me-out can be
selected in the Setup Mode.
Monitor Mode Is used to vibrate or “shake” the Transducer-Under-Test (TUT) for test-
ing and verifying its operaon and sensivity in conjuncon with exist-
ing machinery vibraon monitoring system cables and associated
instrumentaon.
Sensivity Mode In addion to shaking the TUT, the sensivity mode is used to au
tomacally calculate the sensivity of the TUT. It also checks the phase
of the signal to be sure that the accelerometer stacking is correct. Test
parameters and test results can also be stored in memory for
future download via the printer.
The operator manually enters informaon about the TUT in appropri
ate data elds or automacally enters data from a library of sensors
stored in memory. In either case, the TUT serial number must always
be entered.
Bit Test Mode The BIT (Built-in-Test) is a diagnosc mode which automacally per-
forms an extensive series of tests on the TTS.
Support Funcons
Help Help screens are available during all other modes of operaon to assist
the operator.
Print All test parameters, test results and other data stored in memory can
be printed.
Up/Down Arrows These symbols appear on many screens in the upper right hand corner
to indicate the direcon to scroll.
Power Message When the power is turned ON, the TTS automacally tests the RAM
and ROM, then proceeds to the baery check mode display. If the
