CHAPTER 5 - OPERATING PROCEDURES
A Brief Descripon of Chapter 5
All informaon contained in Chapter 5 pertains to the operaon of the HI-803 TTS. The Operang Proce-
dures include Modes of Operaon, Support Funcons, Calibrang a Transducer Under Test and Prinng
the Results of the Test. Chapter 5 also discusses some Electronic and Mechanical Technology necessary
for successful use of this instrument. It is very important that the user be familiar with this chapter
before operang the HI-803 TTS.
Modes of Operaon
Baery Check This mode displays the voltage state status of the internal TTS baer-
ies. The memory status i.e. how many readings are currently stored in
memory, and how many total readings are available.
Setup Mode The Setup Mode allows selecon of the TUT amplitude units (English
or Metric) and the date and me. Setup permits selecon of either
auto- macally prinng all tests stored in memory (up to 100 tests) or
just one test. It also allows selecon of standard, RMS or DB units.
Addionally, the display backlight and the unit power me-out can be
selected in the Setup Mode.
Monitor Mode Is used to vibrate or “shake” the Transducer-Under-Test (TUT) for test-
ing and verifying its operaon and sensivity in conjuncon with exist-
ing machinery vibraon monitoring system cables and associated
instrumentaon.
Sensivity Mode In addion to shaking the TUT, the sensivity mode is used to au
tomacally calculate the sensivity of the TUT. It also checks the phase
of the signal to be sure that the accelerometer stacking is correct. Test
parameters and test results can also be stored in memory for
future download via the printer.
The operator manually enters informaon about the TUT in appropri
ate data elds or automacally enters data from a library of sensors
stored in memory. In either case, the TUT serial number must always
be entered.
Bit Test Mode The BIT (Built-in-Test) is a diagnosc mode which automacally per-
forms an extensive series of tests on the TTS.
Support Funcons
Help Help screens are available during all other modes of operaon to assist
the operator.
Print All test parameters, test results and other data stored in memory can
be printed.
Up/Down Arrows These symbols appear on many screens in the upper right hand corner
to indicate the direcon to scroll.
Power Message When the power is turned ON, the TTS automacally tests the RAM
and ROM, then proceeds to the baery check mode display. If the
