1. Introduction
1.1. Your pulse oximeter
Thank you for purchasing the Microlife pulse oximeter. Your pulse oximeter is
designed to provide fast and reliable non-invasive digital spot checks of your oxygen
saturation of arterial hemoglobin (SpO
2
) and your pulse rate. It offers clinically proven
accuracy and has been designed to be user friendly.
Before using your pulse oximeter, please read this instruction manual carefully to
ensure correct use. If you have additional questions regarding your oxygen saturation
of arterial hemoglobin (SpO
2
) and/or your pulse rate measurements, please contact
your doctor.
1.2. How does a pulse oximeter work?
Fingertip pulse oximeters works by applying a mathematical formula based on
Lambert Beer’s Law, to measure spectrum absorption characteristics of deoxygenated
hemoglobin (Hb) and oxyhemoglobin (HbO2) in red and near-infrared zones.
This fingertip pulse oximeter works by using photoelectric oxyhemoglobin inspection
technology, in accordance with capacity pulse scanning and recording technology, so
that two beams of different wavelengths act as sensors (660nm red and 905nm near
infrared light) when focused into a human nail tip through a finger sensor. This signal
results in a measurement, which is then displayed on the screen.
