Overview

This document describes the Midea 3L SmartRice Cooker, models MB-FS3018W1 and MB-FS3018W2, providing instructions for its safe operation, various cooking functions, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Midea SmartRice Cooker is designed for household use, offering a range of cooking functions to prepare various rice dishes, porridges, soups, and even cakes. Its primary function is to cook rice efficiently, but it also includes specialized modes for different culinary needs. The appliance features a user-friendly operation panel with dedicated buttons for "Warm/Cancel," "Start," and "Function," along with "Hour" and "Min" buttons for time adjustments.

The "Function" button allows users to select from several cooking modes, including "Sweet cooking," "Congee," "Reheat," "Porridge/Soup," "Clay pot rice," "Cake," and "Fast cook." Each function is indicated by a light on the panel. The "Fast cook" function utilizes Midea's "Five Trilogy" cooking program to shorten cooking time while maintaining quality, assuming the amount of rice and other factors are consistent.

The "Warm/Cancel" button serves a dual purpose: it can cancel a selected cooking function or activate the warm-keeping mode. After any cooking function is completed, the appliance automatically switches to warm-keeping mode, maintaining the temperature above 65 degrees Celsius for up to 24 hours.

For scheduled cooking, the "Preset" timer allows users to set a desired completion time. This feature is available for most functions, with the exception of "Cake," "Clay pot Rice," and "Reheat." The preset time indicates the duration from the start of cooking to its completion. It is recommended not to set the preset time for more than 12 hours to avoid off-flavors. Additionally, the selected preset time should not be less than the actual cooking time for functions like "Porridge" to ensure proper cooking.

Usage Features

To begin cooking, users first prepare rice and water according to the desired amount and type of rice, using the provided measurement cup and referring to the water level lines inside the inner pot. For example, to cook 3 cups of long-grain rice, the rinsed rice is placed in the inner pot, and water is added to the appropriate level.

After preparing the ingredients and closing the lid, the "Function" button is pressed to select the desired cooking mode, such as "Sweet cooking." If a delayed start is required, the "Timer" button is used to enter the preset time adjustment mode, and the "Hour" or "Minute" buttons are used to set the completion time. Once the function and time are set, pressing the "Start" button initiates the cooking process.

Specific instructions are provided for various functions:

  • Cake: Involves preparing ingredients like eggs, sugar, flour, and butter, mixing them, and then pouring the mixture into the electric cooker for baking. The "Cake" function is selected, and the "Start" button is pressed.
  • Clay pot rice: Requires mixing and marinating ingredients like pork ribs and seasonings. Washed white rice and water are placed in the inner pot with peanut oil. The "Clay pot rice" function is selected, and during the cooking process, when a notification sound is heard, the marinated ingredients are spread over the rice, and the lid is closed until the function ends.
  • Soup: Involves preparing ingredients like pig bone, corn, and carrots, cutting them, placing them in the inner pot, and adding water up to the maximum water line. The "Soup" function is selected, and the "Start" button is pressed.
  • Reheat: This function is used to warm up cooked rice. Users should loosen the rice, sprinkle 50-80 grams of water on its surface, select the "Reheat" function, and press "Start." For best taste, it is recommended to loosen the rice within 30 minutes of entering the warm-keeping process.

The appliance is designed with safety in mind, prohibiting the use of inferior plugs, wet hands, combustible products near the unit, and operation by children. Users are warned against covering the steam vent, disassembling the appliance, or using it with incorrect voltage. It is also advised not to place hands or face near the steam vent during operation to avoid burns.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning is crucial for the appliance's longevity and performance. Before any cleaning, maintenance, or relocation, the appliance should be turned off and unplugged.

Disassembling the lid plate for cleaning:

  1. Press the white button "a," pull outwards, and remove the lid.
  2. The steam valve can be disassembled by following the disassembly mark, cleaned inside, and then reinstalled according to the marks. The steam valve is simply pressed back into place with force during installation.
  3. The entire cover can be rinsed with water and wiped dry with a cloth.
  4. To reassemble, align the top lid slot band, insert the lid, and press the lid near button "a" until a "click" sound confirms proper installation.

Steam valve cleaning:

  1. The steam valve can be removed by pulling it up.
  2. After cleaning, it is pressed back into place.

Cleaning the cooker body:

  1. The inner lid should be wiped with a damp cloth and not washed directly with water.
  2. A clean cloth should be used to clean any water, rice grains, or debris from the water storage tank and heating plate.
  3. The bottom and outer surface of the inner pot should also be wiped with a clean cloth.

Users are reminded to regularly clean the steam valve and the countertop where the appliance is placed. In case of any maintenance or parts replacement, the product should be delivered to an authorized Midea service center to ensure professional quality service and avoid hidden dangers from improper maintenance or accessory selection. The manual should be kept for future reference.

The appliance is intended for household use and similar applications, such as staff kitchen areas, farmhouses, hotels, motels, and bed and breakfast environments. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a special cord or assembly available from the manufacturer or its service agent. Improper repair or short-circuiting without permission, including tampering with the fuse, may lead to protection failure, overheating, or fire.
