Overview

This document describes the Midea MFW-801S Washing Machine, a fully automatic appliance designed for efficient and convenient laundry care. It covers installation, operation, special features, and maintenance, ensuring users can maximize the lifespan and performance of their machine.

Function Description

The Midea MFW-801S is a top-loading, fully automatic washing machine that offers a range of programs to suit various laundry needs. Its primary function is to wash, rinse, and spin clothes, providing a complete laundry cycle. The machine is equipped with a control panel that allows users to select different programs, adjust water levels, and initiate or pause operations.

The core of its operation revolves around a series of pre-set programs, each tailored for specific types of garments or washing requirements. The NORMAL program is the most common and convenient, designed for everyday laundry. Users can simply power on the machine and press the Start/Pause button to begin this program. The machine will then automatically detect the laundry amount and select the appropriate water level, thanks to its fuzzy control function. If water is already present in the tub or if the user manually selects a water level, the fuzzy control function is overridden.

For more specialized needs, the machine offers several other programs:

  • JEANS: This program provides stronger washing action, ideal for denim and heavily soiled clothes.
  • QUICK: Designed for lightly soiled items, this program offers a shorter washing process, saving time and energy.
  • DELICATE: This program is suitable for washing wool clothing, using a high water level and a gentle beat action to protect delicate fabrics.
  • BLANKET: With strong washing ability, this program is effective for cleaning larger, dirtier items like blankets.
  • MINI WASH: This program is intended for a few items of clothing, using a low water level. High water levels are not recommended for this program.
  • TUB CLEAN: This program is dedicated to cleaning the washing machine's tub itself, preventing cross-infection and ensuring hygienic washing conditions. It includes a full wash, rinse, and spin cycle for the tub.
  • AIR DRY: A unique feature, this program uses high-speed spin to dry the outside of the barrel, helping to control bacteria and promote healthier washing. It's important to note that clothes should not be placed in the machine during this program, as it is solely for drying the barrel.

The machine also supports single wash procedures, allowing users to select individual cycles like WASH, RINSE, or SPIN, or any combination thereof, based on their specific needs. This flexibility is achieved by turning off the indicators for the unwanted procedures on the control panel.

A power failure memory function is integrated, which means if the power supply is interrupted during operation, the machine remembers its current state and automatically resumes from where it left off once power is restored.

Usage Features

The Midea MFW-801S is designed for user-friendliness, with clear instructions for setup and operation.

Installation:

Before first use, the machine requires proper installation. This involves removing packaging materials, including a bottom board and accessories from inside the tub. The adjustable feet must be leveled to ensure the machine is stable and prevents knocking against the cabinet during operation. The water inlet hose needs to be securely connected to a water tap, and the drain hose must be properly sleeved over a sewer and tightened with a hoop to prevent leakage. Once connected to a power source and with the water tap open, the machine is ready for use.

Operation Panel:

The control panel is intuitive, featuring buttons for Power, Program Selection, Water Level, and Start/Pause.

  • The Power button turns the machine on or off. To protect the control panel, a minimum 30-second interval between power cycles is recommended.
  • The Program Selection button allows users to cycle through the various wash programs.
  • The Water Level button offers ten different water levels, from 20L/26L at the lowest to 52L/58L at the highest, providing flexibility based on laundry load.
  • The Start/Pause button initiates or temporarily stops the selected program.

Child Lock:

For safety, the machine includes a Child Lock function. This is activated by simultaneously pressing the [Program] and [Water level] buttons. When active, all LEDs for soak time will wink, and "Child Lock" will be displayed. In this mode, only the power switch button is functional, preventing accidental changes to the program. To deactivate, simply press [Program] and [Water level] again.

Safety Precautions:

The manual emphasizes several safety precautions:

  • Children should not climb on or peer into the rotating spin barrel.
  • Flammable materials like kerosene, gasoline, or alcohol should never be used for washing.
  • The power cord and plug must not be damaged, and the plug should be cleaned regularly to prevent contact failure, electric shock, or fire.
  • Wet hands should not be used to pull out or insert the plug.
  • The water inlet pipe must be correctly connected, and the tap opened before washing.
  • Water temperature should not exceed 50°C when using warm water.
  • The earth line of the socket must be well connected to prevent electric shock from accidental leakage.
  • The machine should not be dismantled or assembled without authorization.
  • Hands should not be inserted into the spin barrel until it has fully stopped.
  • The machine should not be installed in damp or raining environments to prevent electric shock, fire, faults, and distortion.
  • Direct rinsing of the machine with water during cleaning is prohibited.
  • Flammable items like burning candles, mosquito-repellent incense, or cigarettes, as well as heating sources like electric stoves or air heating fans, should not be placed on the washer.
  • Down jackets, raincoats, fishing coats, and similar waterproof clothes should not be washed in the machine, as this can cause imbalance during spin.
  • The lid must be closed during operation, especially during the spin process, to prevent automatic stopping and abnormal warnings.
  • The machine will not operate if the filled water does not reach the set water level.
  • If the [Start/Pause] button is not pressed after powering on, the machine will automatically cut off power after 10 minutes.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of the Midea MFW-801S washing machine.

General Cleaning:

After each use, the surface of the machine should be wiped with a soft cloth to remove water and dirt. Harsh detergents, propellants, or other chemicals should be avoided as they can damage the plastic accessories.

Cleaning the Water Inlet:

Over time, the water inlet mesh bag can become blocked with dirt, affecting water flow. To clean it:

  1. Switch on the power, then shut off the tap.
  2. Allow the washer to run for about 5 seconds so that water flows into the tub through the water inlet hose.
  3. Turn off the power.
  4. Clean the mesh bag.

Cleaning the Lint Filter:

The lint filter collects lint and debris during washing and needs regular cleaning.

  1. Take out the lint filter.
  2. Turn the mesh bag inside out and wash it thoroughly with water.
  3. Restore and refix it in place.

Cleaning the Drain Filter (if applicable):

For models with a drain filter, regular cleaning is essential to prevent drainage problems.

  1. Drain any remaining water from the pump into a container.
  2. Loosen the pump cover counter-clockwise.
  3. Take out the lint filter.
  4. Clean the filter thoroughly.
  5. Restore it, aligning the convex part with the pump hole.
  6. Tighten the pump cover clockwise. The manual recommends cleaning the drain filter every 10 uses to prevent drainage issues.

Troubleshooting:

The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for common issues like no water flow, no washing, abnormal draining, and abnormal spin. It advises users to check simple causes like power supply, water tap status, hose connections, and proper loading before calling for service. For instance, if there's no water flow, users should check if the power is on, the water supply is cut off, the tap is open, or if the inlet valve's filtering screen is blocked.

Malfunction Display and Solutions:

The machine is equipped with an alarm system to indicate specific malfunctions:

  • Alarm for water inlet: If water injection takes too long to reach the preset level, the Normal, Jeans Soak, and 52L/58L lights will flare, and the buzzer will sound. To stop the alarm, open the lid, address the issue (e.g., open the tap, clean the filter), and then close the lid.
  • Alarm for opening lid: If the lid is opened during spinning, the Quick, Delicate, Wash, and 42L/47L lights will flare, and the buzzer will sound. Closing the lid will stop the alarm.
  • Imbalance alarm: If the machine detects an imbalance for the third time, the Bulky, Mini wash, Rinse, and 31L/37L lights will flare, and the buzzer will sound. This usually happens if clothes are piled unevenly. Users should open the lid, redistribute the laundry evenly, and then close the lid.
  • Drain alarm: If draining is not completed within 4 minutes, the Tub clean, Air dry, Spin, and 20L/26L lights will flare, and the buzzer will sound. This could be due to a high drain hose, a sealed hose end, or a blocked drain valve. Users should open the lid, resolve the draining issue, and then close the lid.

The machine's computer automatically attempts to correct imbalances during the spin cycle by filling with water. However, if the imbalance persists after three corrections, the user must manually redistribute the clothing inside the barrel.

By following these instructions, users can ensure the Midea MFW-801S washing machine operates efficiently, safely, and remains in good condition for an extended period.
