FCC License
A ship station license is not required for any vessel traveling in U.S. waters which
is less than 20 meters in length. However, any vessel required to carry an HF
SSB radiotelephone or marine satellite terminal is required to have a ship station

To control your exposure and ensure compliance with the general population or
uncontrolled environment exposure limits, transmit no more than 50% of the
time. The radio generates measurable RF energy exposure only when
transmitting.
