This document is a Service Manual for the Datascope Passport® series of patient monitors, specifically covering the 5-Lead, 5L, LT, and XG models. It is intended for technically qualified personnel for repair and calibration procedures.
Function Description:
The Datascope Passport monitors are designed for continuous non-invasive monitoring of various physiological parameters in patients ranging from neonates to large adults. The core functions include Electrocardiography (ECG), Non-Invasive Blood Pressure (NIBP), and Pulse Oximetry (SpO2). Optional capabilities extend to Invasive Blood Pressure (IBP), Respiration monitoring (thoracic impedance and CO2 waveform), Temperature, and Gas Monitoring (CO2, O2, N2O, and anesthetic agents) via a Gas Module. The monitors provide real-time display of waveforms and numerical data, as well as alarm functions for out-of-limit parameters. Some models include a built-in thermal strip chart recorder for permanent record-keeping. Communication interfaces allow connection to external devices like central stations, remote displays, and defibrillators.

- Pacer Rejection: Rejects pulses of amplitude ± 2.0mV to ±700 mV and duration 0.1ms to 2 ms.
- Display Update: 2 seconds ± .1 sec.
- NIBP (Fixed Orifice & Linear Bleed):
- Technique: Oscillometric
- Systolic Range: 50 to 250 mmHg (Adult/Ped), 15 to 150 mmHg (Neonatal)
- Diastolic Range: 30 to 200 mmHg (Adult/Ped), 10 to 150 mmHg (Neonatal)
- Accuracy (Systolic/Diastolic): Mean error less than 7 mmHg, standard deviation less than 8 mmHg (Adult/Pediatric); Mean error less than 3 mmHg, standard deviation less than 13 mmHg (Neonatal).
- Maximum Cuff Pressure: Hardware switch limits to 375 ±5,-10% (all versions) or 330 mmHg (Adult/Ped) / 165 mmHg (Neonates); Software monitor vents if pressure exceeds 290 mmHg (Adult/Ped) / 150 mmHg (Neonate).
- Pulse Oximetry (Datascope SpO2):
- Accuracy: 70-100% ±2% SpO2 (1 S.D.), 60-69% ±4% SpO2 (1 S.D.), 0-59% Unspecified.
- Response Time: 13 seconds to 95% of final step change.
- Pulse Oximetry (Nellcor® SpO2):
- Accuracy: Nellcor® determines module accuracy by comparisons with NELLCOR® N-100 and N-200 pulse oximeters.
- Response Modes: 5 to 7 seconds averaging, 2 to 3 seconds averaging, 10 to 15 seconds averaging.
- Pulse Oximetry (Masimo® SpO2):
- Accuracy (no motion): 70-100% ±2 digits SpO2 (1 S.D.), 0-69% Unspecified (Adult); 70-100% ±3 digits (Neonatal).
- Accuracy (motion): 70-100% ±3 digits SpO2 (1 S.D.), 0-69% Unspecified (Adult).
- Response Time: 18 seconds to 95% of final step change.
- Respiration (ECG):
- Rate Range: 4-200 bpm
- Rate Accuracy: ±2 bpm or ±2%, whichever is greater.
- CO2 - Mainstream (all units except for 0998-00-0134-XX and 0998-00-0137-XX):
- Range: 0 - 76 TORR
- Accuracy: ±4 TORR (0 - 40 TORR), 10% of actual (41 - 76 TORR).

Usage Features:
The monitors feature a user-friendly interface with single-action, repeat-action, and delayed-action keys for various functions. The display is divided into five graphic areas: Menu, ECG, Parameter, Multi-function, and Message, providing comprehensive patient information. Menus are accessed via UP/DOWN arrow keys and a SELECT key, with an END key to return to the main screen. Specific keys are dedicated to functions like LEAD (ECG), SIZE (ECG), FREEZE (Screen), ZERO (IBP), START (NIBP), INTERVAL (NIBP), DEFLATE (NIBP), VOLUME (Alarms), CHECK/RETURN (Alarms), MUTE (Alarms), TRENDS/RETURN (Trends), TIME UP/DOWN (Trends), BEEP VOLUME, and RECORD (Optional). The Passport XG models also include ADMIT, DISCHARGE, SILENCE, and CO2 PUMP keys. User Configuration Mode allows customization of settings like patient size, trend triggers, date/time, temperature scale, HR/SpO2 size, alarm audio delay, and serial output type.
Maintenance Features:
The service manual provides detailed instructions for repair and calibration, emphasizing safety precautions and the use of proper equipment. Troubleshooting guidelines are included to help identify and resolve problems. An exchange program for certain assemblies is offered for expedient repairs. Preventive maintenance includes mechanical/physical/visual inspection (every six months), annual verification and NIBP calibration, and annual CO2 pump calibration. User preventive maintenance covers care and cleaning of the monitor, Datascope Flexisensors and Datasensors, CO2 sensors and adapters, external and internal CO2 sampling components, sterilization and cleaning of reusable cuffs, battery replacement and maintenance, and care and storage of thermal chart paper. Diagnostic tests are available through a Service Diagnostic mode, including NIBP diagnostics, Error Journal, Exception Stack Frame, Communication Test, Recorder test, Voltage test, Display test (Pixel Test, Video Controller Test), Keyboard test, and SpO2 diagnostics (Accuracy Test, DAC Test, Shared RAM Test).
