Two Handle 4" Centerset Lever: Hex Screw
Moen produces a variety of two handle bathroom faucets. The interior components and assembly are not the same for
each model. This article will explain one of the most common handle assemblies referred to as a Hex Screw Lever. This
faucet style utilizes a 1224 or 1234 cartridge, which are not interchangeable.
Preparation:
• The water supply shut off valves must be turned off- see article How to Turn Off the Water Supply to the
Faucet.
• Recommended Tools: 3/32" Hex Wrench, Pliers
Version 1: 1224 Cartridge
*The cartridge (#3) is white plastic.
Version 2: 1234 Cartridge
*The cartridge stem (#3) is metal.
Disassembly:
1. Using a 3/32" Hex
wrench, loosen the set
screw (#1) until the
handle (#2) lifts off.
2. Remove the handle (#2).

adjust the cartridge stem
