Overview

This document serves as an operating manual for a household ice maker, model YT-E-005D, providing comprehensive instructions for its use, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Function Description

The ice maker is designed for efficient ice production, utilizing compressor refrigerating technology to create bullet-shaped ice. It is an environmentally conscious appliance, using R600a refrigerants and cyclopentane vesicants, which are hydrocarbons that do not deplete the ozone layer or contribute to the greenhouse effect. The device is suitable for various climate types (SN, N, ST, T).

The ice maker features a transparent window, allowing users to observe the ice-making process. It includes an ice storage area, which is divided into an upper section for ice storage and a lower section for water storage. Key components include an ice maker box, evaporator, connecting rod, and ice shovel plate. The control panel, featuring an LCD display, allows users to manage various functions such as power on/off, ice size selection (L/M/S), timer settings, and water injection/drainage.

The device offers several operational modes and reminders:

  • Standby Mode: The machine enters standby mode after power-on, indicated by a twinkling LCD working indicator.
  • Ice-Making Mode: Initiated by pressing the ice-making button, this mode starts the ice production process. Users can select from three ice sizes (small, medium, large), with medium being the default.
  • Washing Mode: A dedicated cleaning cycle activated by long-pressing the ice-making button in standby mode.
  • Ice-Full Reminding Mode: When ice cubes cover the temperature sensor and the temperature reaches approximately 2°C, an "ice-full" icon illuminates, and the machine emits a "di-di" sound for 5 seconds, automatically entering this mode. It exits this mode when the temperature sensor detects approximately 4°C.
  • Automatic Water Affusion and Water Shortage Reminding Mode: If the float switch is at the minimum level or the water box is not full, a "water shortage" icon flashes, and the machine emits a "di-di" sound for 5 seconds, entering water shortage mode. Pressing the ice-making button will resume ice production.
  • Ice-Making Box Not Reset Reminding Mode: If the ice-making box is not in its correct position during ice-making or washing mode, an icon will flash, and a "di-di" sound will be emitted for 5 seconds. The machine will automatically enter this reminding mode and then resume ice-making after 20 minutes, or immediately if the ice-making button is pressed.
  • Clock and Appointment Time Settings: Users can set real-time, ice-making reservation, and standby reservation times using the "Set" and adjustment buttons. The clock can be set to a 24-hour format. An appointment function allows users to schedule ice-making or standby times.

Usage Features

The ice maker is intended for household use and similar applications, including staff kitchen areas, farmhouses, hotels, motels, and bed and breakfast environments.

Before initial use, the machine and its components must be cleaned. After moving, the appliance needs to sit undisturbed for 30 minutes before being switched on to prevent damage to the refrigeration system. Only potable water should be used for ice making.

For proper operation, the ice maker must be placed on a smooth, horizontal surface in a dry, well-ventilated area. To prevent overheating and ensure efficient ice production, a minimum clearance of 20cm around the ventilation grid and 30cm above the unit is recommended. The power cord should be firmly connected to a separate three-core power outlet with reliable grounding, capable of withstanding more than 10A current. The allowable voltage fluctuation range is ±10%.

Water injection is required when the water volume in the storage area falls below the minimum water level mark. The water level should be kept between the maximum and minimum marks. Drainage is performed when the water is polluted or the inner wall needs cleaning. This involves removing the power plug, positioning the ice maker for manual drainage, unscrewing the drain nut, and removing the plug. After draining, the plug should be immediately reinserted and the drain nut tightened. Care must be taken to prevent water from splashing onto live parts during injection or drainage.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the longevity and proper functioning of the ice maker.

  • External Cleaning: Before cleaning, the power plug must be unplugged. Use a soft towel dipped in warm water and a neutral cleaner to scrub the inside and outside surfaces. Avoid abrasive cleaners, acids, chemical solvents, or polishes, and do not rinse with water. Ensure water does not enter live areas.
  • Inner Cleaning: For inner cleaning, add water mixed with 50% vinegar and activate the "swill mode." After the cycle, drain the water as per the drainage instructions, repeating the process until the draining water is clear.
  • General Maintenance: The ice maker should be kept in a dry, ventilated place, away from heat sources and direct sunlight. Over-temperature water should be cooled to indoor temperature before ice-making.
  • Ice Box and Icicle Management: If ice or foreign bodies block the rotation of the ice box, manually remove them. If ice on the icicle significantly affects the water box's rotation, allow the ice to melt naturally rather than forcibly removing it.
  • Storage: If the machine will not be used for a long time, perform a thorough cleaning, turn off the machine, and leave a small gap between the door and the machine to prevent mold formation.
  • Ventilation: Regularly clear the ventilating grill.
  • Food Safety: To avoid food contamination, minimize the time the door (cover) is open, as this can significantly increase the temperature in the ice maker's storage room. Regularly clean surfaces that may contact food and accessible drainage systems. Clean the water tank if it has not been used for 48 hours, and flush the water circulation system if water has been in the tank for more than 5 days.

The manual also provides troubleshooting guidance for common issues such as "No DISPLAY," "Leakage water," "Ice storage area free of ice or small amount of ice," "Ice full icon flashes," "There is a continuous reminder that the ice box is not reset," "Ice making mode operates normally, no ice or a small amount of ice," "Difficulty or inability to shed ice," and "abnormal noise." For complex issues or those requiring professional intervention, users are advised to contact professional personnel.

At the end of its life, the product should not be disposed of with household waste but recycled at appropriate facilities, in accordance with local authority advice.
