Do you have a question about the Motorisation+ SPRINT400 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The SPRINT400 is a gear-motor designed for sliding gates, offering automated control and enhanced security for access points. It is part of the Motorisation Plus range, indicating its integration within a broader system of automated solutions.

Function Description

The SPRINT400 serves as the primary actuator for sliding gates, enabling automatic opening and closing. It integrates with a control unit (CE24CNC) that manages its operations, safety features, and various accessories. The system is designed to be user-friendly, with options for both basic and advanced programming to customize gate behavior. Emergency unblocking is a key feature, allowing manual operation of the gate in case of power failure or malfunction. The device supports multiple safety inputs, including photocells and sensitive edges, to prevent accidents during operation.

Usage Features

Installation: The installation process involves fixing the base plate to the ground using expansion anchors or concrete, ensuring a stable and level surface. Proper alignment of the rack and pinion is crucial, maintaining a 2mm gap to prevent excessive load on the motor. Limit switches are installed to define the gate's opening and closing positions, ensuring the microswitches are pressed at the end of travel. The installer must verify that the automation device's temperature range is suitable for the installation location and that all safety requirements, including crush protection and gate stops, are met according to EN 13241-1.

Manual Operation: In case of power failure or malfunction, the gate can be manually operated. This involves inserting a key, rotating it 90 degrees, and pulling the handle perpendicular to the gear-motor. It is critical not to operate the motor when it is manually unlocked, as this can damage internal components.

Programming and Customization: The CE24CNC control unit allows for extensive programming through an LCD display and buttons. Users can access both basic and advanced menus to adjust parameters such as:

  • Automatic Reclosing Time (ECL): Adjustable from 0 to 900 seconds.
  • Reclosing Time After PH1 (ETR): Adjustable from 0 to 30 seconds.
  • Sensitivity to Obstacles (SEI): Levels from 0 (minimum impact force) to 10 (maximum impact force).
  • Motor Speed During Opening (SFO): Levels from 1 (minimum) to 5 (maximum).
  • Motor Speed During Opening Deceleration Phase (SSO): Levels from 1 (minimum) to 5 (maximum).
  • Motor Speed During Closing (SFC): Levels from 1 (minimum) to 5 (maximum).
  • Motor Speed During Closing Deceleration Phase (SSC): Levels from 1 (minimum) to 5 (maximum).
  • Transmitter Memory (RAD): Allows memorization and deletion of transmitters for various outputs (step-by-step, partial, open only, light ON/OFF). Remote memorization is also possible.

Safety Features: The SPRINT400 integrates multiple safety features:

  • Photocells (PH1, PH2): Detect obstacles in the gate's path, stopping or reversing movement. DIP switches can disable these inputs if not used.
  • Sensitive Edge (SBS): Provides additional crush protection.
  • Emergency Stop (STOP): An input for external stop devices.
  • Obstacle Detection: The system is designed to detect obstacles during operation, triggering appropriate responses (e.g., stopping or reversing).
  • Visual Status Indicators: The LCD display shows various status messages (e.g., "OP" for opening, "CL" for closing, "FI" for photocell 1 tripped) and error codes (e.g., "EOL" for motor current overload, "EEd" for safety edge alarm).

Maintenance Features

General Maintenance: Like any automated system, the SPRINT400 requires periodic maintenance to ensure longevity and safety. Motorisation Plus recommends a maintenance frequency of every 6 months for normal domestic use, though this may vary with intensity of use. All inspections, maintenance, and repairs should be performed by qualified personnel.

User-Level Maintenance: The only interventions recommended for users are:

  • Cleaning: Regularly clean the slides and photocells.
  • Obstacle Removal: Remove any leaves or rocks that could hinder gate operation.
  • Transmitter Battery Replacement: If the transmitter's performance degrades, the battery may need replacement. Batteries contain pollutants and should be disposed of according to local regulations.

Professional Maintenance: Qualified technicians are responsible for:

  • System Testing: Performing tests according to EN 12453 to ensure compliance with safety standards, including impact force measurements.
  • Troubleshooting and Repairs: Addressing any malfunctions, disconnections, or repairs.
  • Documentation: Maintaining a technical file for 10 years, including electrical diagrams, risk analysis, and conformity declarations.

Safety Warnings:

  • Always ensure the automation is unlocked before manual operation.
  • Do not allow children to play near the gate or with transmitters.
  • In case of malfunction, disconnect power and use manual release.
  • Do not attempt repairs yourself; contact a qualified installer.
  • Ensure all safety devices are properly installed and functioning.
