4.1
Configuring Geographical Redundancy
Prerequisites:
For the Geographical Redundancy to be set, two servers in the system are required.
In case of two Express Servers running as integrated, before proceeding, ensure that Link 2 is
disconnected.
Ensure all Express Servers in your system were configured in the DIMETRA Express Configuration
Wizard and have license files with the same profile. For more information, depending on your system,
see the DIMETRA Express Quick Start Guide or DIMETRA Express Standalone Quick Start Guide.
Procedure:
1 Log on the DIMETRA Express Network Manager of the Express Server to be the Primary server.
See Logging On to the DIMETRA Express Network Manager on page 41.
2 From the System Settings tab, expand the Maintenance node.
3 In the Redundancy tab, select Configure.
4 In the Configure Express Server window, select Primary and click Next.
5 In the Primary Express Server window, enter all the required information and click Next.
6 In the Secondary Express Server window, enter all the required information and click Next.
7 Verify that all the information is correct and click Submit.
8 Read the on-screen message and confirm understanding by clicking I understand and
Proceed.
The server reboots. The reboot process takes up to 6 minutes.
9 Log on to the DIMETRA Express Network Manager of the Express Server to be the Secondary
server. See Logging On to the DIMETRA Express Network Manager on page 41.
10 From the System Settings tab, expand the Maintenance node.
11 In the Redundancy tab, select Configure.
12 In the Configure Express Server window, select Secondary and click Next.
13 In the Secondary Express Server window, enter all the required information and click Next.
14 In the Primary Express Server window, enter all the required information and click Next.
15 Verify that all the information is correct and click Submit.
16 Read the on-screen message and confirm understanding by clicking I understand and
Proceed.
The server reboots. The reboot process takes up to 6 minutes.
NOTICE: To avoid unnecessary switchover during the configuration of redundancy, the
Secondary Express Server boots up with the Automatic Redundancy option disabled.
