DIMETRA Express System
Restoration
7.1
Restoring the DIMETRA Express System
CAUTION: The Express Server circuitry contains many CMOS and other electrostatic
discharge sensitive devices. Take precautionary measures to prevent damage of Express
Server modules by static discharge when servicing the equipment. Apply the following
additional precautions:
Wear a wrist strap (Motorola Part No. 4280385A59 or equivalent) at all times when servicing
the Express Server to minimize static build up.
A jack is provided at top left of module cage marked with the ground symbol.
Keep spare modules in factory packaging for transporting. When shipping modules, always
pack in original packaging.
IMPORTANT: During the Express Server (FRU: GMLN4752B) restoration, the site is off air and
radios have to find service on other sites. Service downtime lasts approximately 45 minutes.
Process:
1 Replace the Express Server hardware:
For the modular solution, see Replacing the DIMETRA Express Server Hardware (Modular
Solution) on page 44.
For the all-in-one-box solution (MTS 2/MTS 4), see Replacing the DIMETRA Express Server
Hardware (All-In-One-Box Solution: MTS 2/MTS 4) on page 45.
2 Restore the Express Server software. See Restoring the Express Server Software on page 47.
3 IMPORTANT: If configuring your Express Server in an already running Geographical
Redundancy setup, ensure that the replacement Express Server is not connected to the
active Express Server.
Reconfigure your DIMETRA Express system. Depending on your system, see the DIMETRA
Express Quick Start Guide or DIMETRA Express Standalone Quick Start Guide.
4 If your system is set up with Geographical Redundancy, reconfigure redundancy on the
replacement Express Server. See Reconfiguring Geographical Redundancy on an Express
Server Replacement on page 38.
