Open apps faster, multitask better
To improve performance, your phone can temporarily turn storage into virtual RAM (temporary memory
where your phone puts data it needs to retrieve quickly) when you need extra speed. The result? You can
open apps faster and keep more open at the same time for smoother multitasking.
View/change memory allocation
When RAM boost is on , your phone uses internal storage as virtual memory, decreasing storage
capacity (for photos, files, apps that you install).
To adjust how much memory is used for extra RAM versus storage:
1. Go to Settings > System > Performance.
2. Tap RAM boost.
3.
If needed, turn it on .
4. Choose the size of extended memory.
5. Restart your phone to apply the new setting.
If you need to save power
Higher performance may use more battery. If you need to save power, you can temporarily turn RAM boost
off:
1. Go to Settings > System > Performance.
2.
Tap RAM boost and turn it off .
3. Restart your phone to apply the new setting.
When you no longer need to save power, turn RAM boost back on and restart your phone.
