2-8 FEATURES AND BENEFITS
3.2.4 Programmable Side Buttons
The two programmable side buttons may be programmed (using the CPS) to allow quick and easy
activation of up to four functions. Each button can activate two different functions by differentiating
between a short and a long press:
■
■
Short Press - quickly pressing and releasing the buttons.
■
■
Long Press - pressing the button for a deÞned period of time (set using the CPS) before
releasing.
Please note that some functions (ie. Monitor and Volume Set) are activated by a "press and hold"
button operation. In this case, the button does not differentiate between a short and long press and
can only be programmed to activate the single function.
The two side buttons are physically separated by a moulded ridge in the radio housing, allowing the
user to easily locate the required button without having to look at the radio. Typically, the user will be
able to feel this ridge even while wearing gloves.
Quick Þngertip identiÞcation of the correct button is further assisted by the different texture patterns
moulded onto the buttons themselves.
To eliminate user uncertainty, the radio provides audio feedback to indicate whether the button
activation has been successful:
Continuous ORANGE Battery half charge level
Continuous RED Low battery charge level
Flashing RED Very low battery charge level
