Condition
Where possible visually examine for signs of excessive damage, wear, corrosion or
contamination both outside and within the case.
Connectors
and visible
cable
Check all visible cable for any signs of corrosion, excessive damage or contamination.
Ensure correct operation of connectors.
Extraction/
retraction
Inspect line extraction and retraction by pulling out the entire length of line and letting it
retract back into the housing in a controlled manner. The line operation shall be smooth and
unhesitant (maintain a light tension on the lifeline whilst it retracts). Repeat three times.
Lock-on Pull sharply on the lifeline and ensure device locks. Repeat three times.

The V-TEC SRL shall not be altered or added to and shall be repaired in accordance with the manufacturer’s
instructions. Repairs shall be completed by a technician.
6.1 Maximum Product Life
The V-TEC SRL’s service life is determined by the device condition as prescribed by pre-use checks and
periodic examinations; there is no fixed service life. Continued use is dependent upon passing pre-use
checks and periodic examinations. Service life may be reduced by frequency and conditions of use or local
regulations.
