Additionally, check for a plugged vent in the gas cap and clear it. Water or dirt in the fuel system can also be a factor; drain the fuel tank and refill with fresh fuel.

  If the tines on your MTD Tiller aren't engaging, there might be a foreign object lodged in them; dislodge it. Also, check for missing tine clevis pins and replace them if necessary. Furthermore, replace the belt if it is worn and/or stretched. Refer to the controls section of the operator’s manual for proper shifting procedures and adjust the control cable (see assembly instructions).
