Testing the roll over valve
The roll over valve vent has two functions. The first function is to vent the tank and the second function is to close
off the vent if the tank is inverted.
Test the roll over valve by:
1. Disconnect the hose that runs from the charcoal
canister to the roll over valve.
See Figure 4.14.
2. Connect a vacuum pump to the hose.
3. Slowly apply a vacuum to the roll over valve.
NOTE: If the roll over valve does not hold a vacuum,
replace the canister.
4. If the roll over valve held a vacuum, disconnect the
hose from the roll over valve.
5. Attach the vacuum pump directly to the roll over
valve.
6. Slowly apply a vacuum to the roll over valve.
NOTE: If the roll over valve does not hold a vacuum, the
hose has blocked. Replace the hose.
