Why are there weak sparks seen in the spark tester of my MTD T65?
    • K
      Karen ZamoraJul 27, 2025
If you observe weak sparks in the spark tester of your MTD Engine, it could be due to an incorrect module air gap. Ensure you check and correct the module air gap. After adjusting the air gap, re-test for sparks.

What to do if MTD Engine starts, but runs poorly?
    • W
      William LarsenAug 2, 2025
If your MTD Engine starts but runs poorly, and then dies, inspect the flywheel and key for any damage or a sheared key. If the engine runs with low power output, set the proper air gap on the ignition module. If the engine makes unusual sounds when running, test the ignition module for intermittent or weak spark.

Why MTD T65 crankshaft will not turn?
    • M
      mitchellmicheleAug 8, 2025
If the crankshaft of your MTD Engine will not turn, the starter may not be working. Check for the correct spark plug. Also, the engine may be in a bind. If the engine is externally bound due to a jammed attachment, isolate the engine from the equipment and repeat the test. If the engine is internally bound (seized), this indicates an equipment problem; check the switches and wiring for shorts or grounds in the equipment controls wiring.

What causes a high reading in stop switch testing for MTD T65 Engine?
    • K
      Kyle SmithAug 14, 2025
A high reading during stop switch testing on your MTD Engine may indicate burnt contacts or a bad ground to the switch. To resolve this, trace the wire back to the module to locate and fix the short.

What does continuity shown in stop switch testing mean for MTD T65?
    • M
      Mark DonaldsonAug 20, 2025
Continuity shown in stop switch testing indicates that the module is shorted to ground and may not produce a spark.
