Recoil Starter Removal
To remove the recoil assembly from the engine:
1. If the engine is installed on a mower, loosen the wing-
nut that secures the starter rope eyelet to the handle-
bars enough to provide clearance for the starter rope
and slide the rope out. Allow the starter rope to
retract into the starter.
2. Remove the three nuts that secure the recoil assem-
bly and the blower housing to the engine using a
10mm wrench. See Figure 6.1.
3. Lift the recoil assembly off of the engine.
4. Install the starter by following the previous steps in
reverse order.
5. Test run the engine in a safe area before returning it
to service.
